Keen readers of XLR8R will recognize the name of Tangram Records. Earlier this year—March to be exact—the label passed over the title track of Up High Collective‘s brilliant Phonemica EP, a collection of cuts that garnered support from the likes of KCRW,Rinse FMAlix PerezThe Gaslamp Killer, Kutmah, House Shoes, Soulection’s Joe Kay, and more.

The latest release from the imprint will be an ambitious compilation with a beautiful centerfold artwork crafted by graphic artist Dzia. The compilation will feature six previously unreleased tracks by Up High Collective, Faisal, LTGL, LoneBlue x Halibab Matador (aka YellowStraps), Le Motel, and Sokoto. The tracks themselves are wild and psychedelic—beat-driven outings that hit hard in the chest and the head.

In support of the release, Tangram has offered up a cut from Belgian producer Ashley Morgan (a.k.a. LTGL) as today’s XLR8R download. The track in question, “Splatter,” is a beautifully warped, jazz-tinged cut that would fit perfectly in the record bags of the aforementioned artists.
