Hailing from Galway, Ireland, John Daly—a producer who’s been crafting tracks for the better part of the past seven years—is set to drop his newest LP, Sunburst (artwork above), later this month. Here, we have the effort’s title track (which also serves as the opening cut), a fine example of the territory Daly has concerned himself with as of late, “somewhere between house music, techno, disco, and dub.” There’s an extra layer of space at play in the Irishman’s tunes, as he incorporates some real instrumentation into his productions—albeit with a generous dose of processing—most noticeable here in the adventurous bass guitar licks that move along with the slow-burning track. Over the course of the song’s six-plus minute run, enough syncopated synth lines and lush chords pile up to propel this one into cosmic-techno-jam territory, an aesthetic choice we have a sneaking suspicion makes a few more appearances on Daly’s forthcoming LP, set to drop April 27.
