The first EP to be released on the fresh music imprint Exploration Music is City Stellar, a six track effort from the Parisian artist Yan Kaylen. Having previously released music through the imprint Lunar Distance, his City Stellar record is an exercise in electronic and urban imagination, featuring a miscellany of dark dub and techno sounds with a lush, dramatic, and towering crosscurrent. The EP has seen support and feedback from the likes of Cio d’Or, Truss, Akkord, François X, Zadig, and many more.
Having just released his City Stellar EP today, Kaylen has graciously offered up the EP cut “Suspension Of Disbelief” as today’s XLR8R download. Coming in at 125 BPM, the track’s emphasis on the smokey, lethargic drum patterns, trotting synth arrangement, and bellowing low ends of the track puts one in mind of the golden days of dubstep, a time that is sorely missed by many.
