Though he has worked stages and studios for nearly 30 years alongside veterans like Carl Craig, Derrick May, and Juan Atkins, Anthony “Shake” Shakir has only produced one-off compilation tracks, EPs, and 12″ releases in the past. With the forthcoming release of Frictionalism 1994-2009, the seminal Detroit-based techno producer will soon have an official full-length album under his belt. This “extensively researched” set of music spans 15 years over 33 tracks of hard-to-find and previously unreleased productions. Old fans needing to re-up their collections and newcomers looking for a fix of classic techno can get their paws on Shake’s handiwork when it’s made available this February on 3-CD, 4-LP + 7″, and digital formats from the Rush Hour label.
