2014 has been a breakout year for Seven Davis Jr., the fast-rising Los Angeles-based producer/vocalist who in the past 12 months has released on Funkineven’s Apron label, dropped an EP on Classic (the title track from which we deemed one of the best tracks of 2014), and collaborated with Doc Daneeka for two songs on the Berlin producer’s recent From Mine to Mistress EP for his own Ten Thousand Yen outpost. Even with all that to his name this year, Seven Davis Jr. does not appear ready to settle down, and today has offered a characteristically funky new production, “Get Serious,” for free download.

Laced with jittery FX, active bass, and a slew of trippy vocal layers, “Get Serious” is free to download for those who head to the Seven Davis Jr. website and sign up for the man’s email list. (Though, for those who do not wish to sign up for the list, the track also does seem to be available to download direct from the LA artist’s SoundCloud, here.) Those looking to give “Get Serious” a spin before adding the free track to their hard drives can do so using the player below.
