The man behind Hefty Records, and the aliases Bill Ding and Slicker, John Hughes III, returns after a lengthy break to the world of recorded music. Released today on STS9’s 1320 Records, Reset the Warehouse “represents the prime selections from a productive period of meticulous tracking and experimentation at [Hughes’] HFT Studio located outside of Chicago,” reads a recent press release.

“I wanted this recording to have a live, gritty sound, so I took it outside of the computer as much as I could,” Hughes explains. “It was mixed through a board to tape, and the synths are all analog. Within the context of an electronic record, the live performances also help give it a warm, organic feel.” To achieve those effects, Hughes collaborated with friends Rick Embach and Joshua Eustis (of Telefon Tel Aviv). The entire list of Hughes’ co-conspirators can be found here. Check below for a tracklisting of the new album and for Hughes’ tour dates with STS9.
