After recently unveiling the video for “Husk,” Bristol house maestro Julio Bashmore has shared a stream of its b-side, called “Pelican.” The tune is a fitting counterpart to “Husk” that uses the same punchy house kicks and rounded bass frequencies that cut through the mix and propel the groove. Despite the similarities, there’s something less upbeat about the vibe of “Pelican.” Whereas the flutes in “Husk” helped shed light on the mix, they mystify, complicate, and darken “Pelican.” You can stream the track below before the two-track single drops via Julio Bashmore’s own Broadwalk imprint on December 2.
