LA-based producer and composer Adam Gunther’s (a.k.a. DZANG) original score for Jay Dockendorf’s film Naz & Maalik will be released with the film tomorrow, January 22.

The film, which follows “two closeted Muslim teens in Brooklyn on one afternoon when nothing goes right,” is Gunther’s first feature-length score and first collaboration with Dockendorf. Moving from beat-oriented cuts to more abstract pieces, the score is an immaculate extension of Gunther’s work as DZANG, conjuring similarities to that of the Flying Lotus and the beat scene in LA—the city in which Gunther is based.

Naz & Maalik will be playing at Cinema Village in Manhattan from January 22-29 and will be released on VOD and DVD on January 29. Ahead of the release, you can stream “Selling,” a gorgeous beat-driven cut, in full via the player above.
