Genre-bending shapeshifter Marlow is up next on Sonar Kollektiv with his forthcoming 17-track album, In The Backroom.

Across a storied career, the German artist has released a highly diverse collection of works—everything from hip-hop and jazz through to minimal house and techno—on labels such as Moon Harbour, Room With a View, and Compost Recordings. His latest opus, In The Backroom, fuses all of his various styles into a cohesive and flowing long-player.

From its sample-heavy, jazz-filled opening to the deep middle ground, the album meanders along with a relaxed groove and sun-tinged soul through a collection of breakbeats, hip-hop, and everything in between. Although it sounds like a set of disparate sounds, Marlow makes it work with laidback style—no easy feat across a whopping 17 tracks.
