Skinny Pelembe has announced details of his debut album, Dreaming Is Dead Now, out May 24 on Brownswood Recordings

Over 10 tracks, the Johannesburg-born, Doncaster-raised artist meditates on grief, heartache, stunted aspirations, and fresh possibilities in post-recession Britain. Many of the songs have germinated through a decade-long process, a reckoning with the family, grief, and romantic turning points during that period. It’s described as a “patchwork of personal and musical touchstones,” and follows a series of 12″s on Gilles Peterson’s London label.

The album artwork nods to two of Skinny’s favourite albums: Alice Coltrane’s Journey to Satchidananda” and The White Stripes’ White Blood Cells.
