A new documentary has surfaced examining the life and career of influential hip-hop producer J Dilla, telling the Detroit-reared artist’s story by using his immense record collection as a guide alongside commentary from his mother (a.k.a. Ma Dukes), J.Rocc, DJ Spinna, and others. The 30-minute doc is certainly not the first attempt to take an in-depth look at the legacy of the late J Dilla, but the Fuse-produced film includes some interesting new angles, including visiting one of the man’s frequent record spots and inviting some of his collaborators and friends to dig through the mass of records left in his storage space.
