Weekly Selections: Coachella, Barac at Dialogue, XLR8R & Cyclone with Lamache & Maksim
Our top weekly event picks from around the globe.
This weekend XLR8R heads out to Palm Desert for the second weekend of Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. As with every year, Goldenvoice has again organized a killer cast of artists to perform across the polo grounds’ seven stages, with headliners Radiohead, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar at the top of the bill for each night, respectively. On Friday, make sure not to miss booming DJ sets from Floorplan and Bicep in the Yuma Tent, before heading over to Richie Hawtin’s new audiovisual show, ‘Close,’ at the Mojave Stage. On Saturday, catch Ben UFO perform in the Yuma Tent before the three and a half hour back-to-back-to-back disco marathon with Four Tet, Floating Points, and Daphne. Moderat, Nicolas Jaar, and Classixx on the Mojave Stage will also be a highlight. And on Sunday, don’t miss Kaytranada at Sahara before heading to catch Ostgut Ton mainstay Marcel Dettmann in the Yuma. Take your pick to finish off the weekend; Sasha and Tale of Us in the Yuma, Justice at the Outdoor Theatre, or Kendrick Lamar at the Coachella Stage. On Saturday night, Dialogue returns to the warehouse district of Downtown Los Angeles for a night of forward thinking Romanian minimal following stellar editions with Rhadoo and Raresh. For this weekend’s edition, organizers have locked in one of the genre’s best: Moment Records boss Barac. Attendees can expect a top-notch sound system with driving tunes all night long, especially with Halo booked for warm up duties. And on Sunday, XLR8R, Cyclone, and Roam Music team up for an exclusive pool party at the Custom Hotel featuring the LA debut of Discobar boss Lamache. ReSolute resident Maksim will also play the daytime event following his appearance at Cyclone on Friday, along with WXC and Cyclone residents HAAS & Highkin.
