Weekly Selections: Nuits Sonores, Öona Dahl in Venice, Donaufestival, George Fitzgerald & DJ Tennis at Fabric

Following on from the success of last year’s scheme, the 14th edition of the festival will hand over control of part of its programming to three artists they believe embody the spirit of Nuits Sonores. Danilo Plessow (a.k.a. Motor City Drum Ensemble) will take the reigns on the first of the NS Days, which runs on Thursday May 5, followed by Godfather of French techno Laurent Garnier the day after, and Seth Troxler on the Saturday. With the festival’s continuing focus on the Confluence area of Lyon, the events will take place in La Sucrière, an exhibition space and former factory between May 4-8. The mystical and transformative Berlin-based artist Öona Dahl is set to play a special performance on Saturday May 7 at Townhouse in Venice. Öona Dahl’s tenor and cutting aesthetic perfectly matches her musical breadth and production skill. With forthcoming releases on respect brands like All Day I Dream and the fresh Hallucienda label, it is beyond likely that Öona Dahl will make further strides in distinguishing herself this coming summer. With support from DJ-producer Michael Sandler (aka SAAND), who was named as one of Beatport’s “Breakthrough Artists of 2015” and Deep LA’s very ownMarques Wyatt, this edition of Venice Gets Deep is bound to be one that will not be soon forgotten.
