Last month, Italian producers Clockwork and Avatism announced they would be joining forces on a collaborative EP under the name CW/A, following a performance together at the 2013 edition of Barcelona’s Sónar Festival. The resulting effort, Conducting the Method, was issued on vinyl earlier this week, and now, its title track has been made available to stream in full before the record sees a digital release later this month. Like the EP’s two other original tracks, “Conducting the Method” was built around an excerpt from the pair’s live, improvisation-centric Sónar appearance, and can be heard below.

Following previous issues this year from John Heckle and Bantam Lions, Scenery chief Asok is set to deliver the fledgling Liverpool label’s next release. His upcoming Hunter EP arrives as his second offering this year—preceded by a 12″ for M>O>S—and features a title-track remix from Versalife, the alter ego of Dutch producer Boris Bunnik (a.k.a. Conforce, pictured above). While Asok’s original version of “Hunter” comes described as a “mid-tempo jam that drifts along with frazzled synth lines offset by more bittersweet melodies,” a rework by Versalife (an affiliate of both Clone and Delsin and former XLR8Rpodcast contributor) yields a “kinetic, sub-aquatic affair, laden with celestial chords, rubbery basslines, and soothing ambient soundscapes.”

The full Hunter EP is due out on October 10, with a digital release to follow a month later. Until then, Versalife’s remix of “Hunter” is available to stream in full below, where the EP’s tracklist can also be found. A video for Asok’s original track is on view here, and clips for all four tracks can be previewed here.

As we reported earlier this month, Stateside beatmaker (and former XLR8R podcast contributor) Lee Bannon has a new EP in the works. Entitled Main/Flex, the record’s full details have arrived along with a stream of EP cut “MFS-1.” Initially described by Bannon as an EP of “aggressive material,” the nine-track record features Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, Teklife affiliate Deejay Earl, and Hak of hip-hop outfit Ratking in its run.

Slated to arrive on November 4 via the newly relaunched Babygrande imprint, the full tracklist for the Main/Flex EP can be found below, where a stream of Bannon’s collaboration with Hak, “MFS-1,” can also be found.

Argentinian artist Pedro Canale (a.k.a. Chancha Via Circuito) has shared a colorful clip for “Jardines” a dubwise track taken from the cumbia producer’s forthcomingAmansara LP. Featuring vocalist Lido Pimienta, “Jardines” fuses together Canale’s inventive take on digital cumbia with sparse dub techno, a combination which sits calmly below Pimienta’s Spanish crooning. Fittingly, the accompanying clip places the track’s guest vocalist amongst a digital garden of sorts, one which appears always in motion as it unfolds new layers of computer-generated forestry.

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the first and second installments of Red Bull Music Academy‘s Diggin in the Carts, a documentary series that delves into the untold history of videogame music. The third episode premiered today, and features the likes of Dizzee Rascal (pictured above), Ikonika, Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Groundislava, and others delving into the 16-bit era, with a particular focus on the impact of Street Fighter II. The 15-minute chapter, which can be viewed below, is titled “The Dawn of a New Era,” and also includes interviews with and commentary by both Japanese videogame experts and some of the people who composed these iconic sounds.

In the lead up to Syro—the forthcoming first Aphex Twin LP to appear in 13 years—details have seemed to trickle down in fragments, falling in line with the elusive producer’s convoluted backstory and general reticence (if not disdain) for conventional interviews and press. Today however, a new interview sheds light on the enigmatic artist that is Aphex Twin, finding him discussing his forthcoming LP, gear, his fondness of ’90s rave culture, and more. Penned by Philip Sherburne for Pitchfork, the five-part interview also sees Aphex Twin discussing his fascination with sound and hinting at future projects, while confirming that he currently resides in Scotland; he even goes on to call jungle “the ultimate genre.” Pitchfork’s extensive Cover Story interview with the pioneering electronic producer can be read in its entirety here.

Pulled from Oneman‘s upcoming Solitaire Vol. 3 mixtape, a new production from house stalwart Todd Edwards is now available to stream in full. Billed as “his first garage track in years,” Edwards’ “I’m Not Afraid” finds the veteran producer/DJ chopping and repitching a number of soul-striped samples across his skipping new effort—in other words, the track is a welcome reminder of the style of garage the formerly New Jersey-based artist spent so many years honing.

Edwards’ “I’m Not Afraid” can be streamed in its entirety below before Oneman’s Solitaire Vol. 3 mixtape drops on September 29. In addition, the garage pioneer’s 2013 mix for our Innovators series can be streamed/downloaded here.

With its October 6 release date fast approaching, a new track from Flying Lotus‘ You’re Dead! LP has surfaced. Set to appear halfway through FlyLo’s upcoming fifth full-length effort, “Coronus, The Terminator” finds the LA beat maven crafting a dense piece of astral jazz led by ghostly vocals—said to be the producer’s own—and the loose percussion style which FlyLo has ostensibly mastered over the years.
