A former member of Detroit’s fabled Underground Resistance collective, Rolando has announced the launching of a new imprint, Roland Rocha Records, or R3 for short. Now based in Edinburgh, Scotland, the techno veteran has launched R3 with the goal of allowing for more “artistic freedom to put music out in the right context, [with] the right timing, and [to maintain] the ultimate control of his own work.” As such, the label’s inaugural release will come in the form of the Juu EP, which boasts three new Rolando productions—”Juu,” “Non,” and “Time Adjustment.”

Before the upcoming EP officially launches R3 on April 28, two of the effort’s productions have been included on Rolando’s latest mix, which appeared on the French web magazine Trax late last month. That mix, including “Time Adjustment” and “Juu,” can be heard via the player below, where the artwork for the Juu EP has also been included.

Returning to Hush Hush for his forthcoming Silo Tear EP, Seattle-based producer Kid Smpl is said to combine ambient atmospheres with rough, mechanical textures on his next record. A press release for the rising artist’s follow-up to last year’s intriguingArmour EP explains that it “presents a colder, more abrasive, and exceptionally physical sound.” Before Silo Tear EP drops on May 5, the record’s titular cut is available to stream below, where its tracklist can also be found.

Longtime Ninja Tune affiliate Bonobo has delivered the latest Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1. First aired over the weekend, the two-hour affair—which features tracks from Martyn, Machine Drum, Maya Jane Coles, Mano Le Tough, Dark Sky, Throwing Snow, Dauwd, and Taylor McFerrin, alongside a number of Bonobo’s own productions—is now available to hear in full. After a brief introduction which finds Bonobo quickly covering the trajectory of his career and the ways his live and DJ sets inform each other, the NYC-based producer launches into his mix with a series of dancefloor-friendly tracks steeped in the type of moody, blues-tinged vibes Bonobo has built his reputation on over the years.

On the way from the recently inaugurated DFTD, an imprint of longstanding UK label Defected, Still Believe sees veteran DJ/producer and 4Lux boss Gerd using his well-honed house techniques to construct two brand-new, dancefloor-ready pieces, both of which are now available to preview.

Created with help from Italian DJ/producer Marcoradi, the record’s title track alternates between pointed piano chords and distorted vocal loops, while Gerd’s solo-produced “Work Da Tool” creates a pounding tune out of mechanical synths and choppy vocal snippets. The preview below gives a sneak peek at the varied styles featured on Gerd’s forthcoming two-track 12″, which is set to hit retailers on May 26. Both sides of Still Believe can be previewed before then, below.

Daphni, the dancefloor-oriented project of Dan Snaith (a.k.a. Caribou, pictured above), will soon be releasing a new 12″ that features a pair of collaborations with composer, violinist, and fellow Canadian Owen Pallett. Snaith claims that both songs, “Julia” and “Tiberius,” have been a part of his DJ sets for a while and the record will reportedly appear on his own Jialong label next week. The timing is interesting, as Pallett—who previously worked under the name Final Fantasy and has also collaborated with the likes of The Arcade Fire, Beirut, and The Mountain Goats—has a solo LP on his own on the way. Entitled In Conflict, it’s scheduled for release on May 13 via Domino. It’s a safe bet that the album’s content won’t have a ton in common with this new Jialong 12″, but listeners are free to begin forming their own opinions by checking out “Julia” and “Tiberius,” both of which are streaming in full below.

Celebrating 10 years of releasing quality, uncompromising electronic music from around the world, Hyperdub has its sights set on a very big year for 2014. New records from the likes of Cooly G, Fatima Al Qadiri, and King Britt’s Fhloston Paradigm alias have already been announced or released, and we’ve also received the details of the first in a series of four compilations that will arrive this year to help celebrate the anniversary. Adding to that today, the label has unveiled a forthcoming 12″ from Detroit iconoclast Kyle Hall (pictured above) and a mini-mix of new music from Hyperdub honcho Kode9.

Kyle Hall’s “Girl U So Strong” b/w “Take Me Away” 12″ will be the first record to arrive with a previously unreleased track lifted from the upcoming Hyperdub 10.1 comp, and is set to drop on May 12, one week before the aforementioned collection hits retailers. That record’s a-side is among the myriad tracks crammed into Kode9’s 10-minute Hyperdub 10.1 Mini-Mix, which also features new productions from Mala, Kuedo, DJ Rashad, the mixmaster himself, and others. Anthony Naples had himself a busy 2013 on the release front, issuing records for Mister Saturday Night, Rubadub, The Trilogy Tapes, and his own Proibito imprint. His 2014 has been quiet so far, but earlier today, the Brooklyn-based producer announced that his first effort of the year would find him returning to The Trilogy Tapes for another go-round. Although details about the release are slim—the label has only noted that the EP contains four tracks and is scheduled to appear in May—a new song was shared via The Trilogy Tapes’ SoundCloud. Entitled “Perro,” the the slow-grooving, eight-and-a-half-minute tune can be heard in its entirety below.
