Video: Matias Aguayo “Levantate Diegors”

With his third solo full-length dropping next week via his own Cómeme label, Matias Aguayo has shared a charecteristically quirky and rather ambiguous video for album cut “Levantate Diegors.” In the middle of sandy, coastal terrain, Aguayo and a mopey friend—we might possibly be working with a Weekend at Bernie’s-type scenario here—walk down a dusty path to the calm waters below as the camera takes brief moments to track things like a high-flying bird and an adventurous cat from time to time. What it all means is anyone’s guess, but it’s hard to argue with the jittery rhythms and post-punk vibes Aguayo is able to sneak into this hypnotic cut. And what’s more, the man’s The Visitor LP can now be streamed in full via Pitchfork Advance, here.

Samaris “Góða Tungl (Sei A Remix)”*One Little Indian*

Samaris (pictured above) hails from Iceland and delivers glacial, downtempo electronic music with lyrics culled from 19th century Icelandic poems. The group—whose members are all still in their teens—has an album coming out via One Little Indian on July 30, but prior to that, will be dropping lead single “Góða Tungl” with remixes from Sei A and Stubborn Heart. Sei A’s tech-house-leaning version of the song is unusually pared down for the producer, with its crackling chords and syncopated rhythm only really joining the vocal fragments and gauzy atmosphere halfway into the track.

Her latest—entitled Dimension D—is set to drop via Visionquest next week, but is available to stream in its entirety in the meantime. The record sees the producer drifting further into the role of singer/songwriter, with Iglesias’ distinctive vocals and lush beats allegedly being inspired by the sea and nature. Video Premiere: XL Middleton & Eddy Funkster “Night Time is Coming”

The San Francisco-based Voltiare imprint will drop a new four-track compilation of “modern funk” tomorrow, with the synth-laced “Night Time Is Coming” from Los Angeles cohorts XL Middleton and Eddy Funkster serving as the collection’s opening track. The tune’s accompanying video makes clear the vibe the pair of SoCal producers are after, as it begins with them digging through crates and laying into some keyboards before transitioning to a more feel-good update on the kind of parties featured in classic West Coast hip-hop videos. Voltaire’s Private Function 12″ compilation drops tomorrow with more cuts from K-Maxx, Night School, and Loose Shus.

Listen to oOoOO’s Debut Album

Erstwhile “witch house” producer oOoOOannounced his debut album back in April—which follows on from two well-received EPs released via Tri Angle. In anticipation of its release next week—where it will inaugurate the San Francisco producer’s brand-new Nihjgt Feelings imprint—Without Your Love has been made available to stream online. The record continues oOoOO’s streak of downcast, synth-laden, and R&B-tinged electronic music. Joakim Drops New 12″

In a bit of an unexpected move, the recently relocated NYC-based producer Joakim has dropped a suprise 12″ via his own Tigersushi imprint. “Heartbeats” b/w “Another Light” (artwork above) is a single said to be the first batch of completed material which the Parisian artist has slated for an eventual full-length album still in the works. The longstanding producer has expressed plans to continue releasing tracks while the process of making his LP is underway, with further productions appearing on singles down the line so that listeners can “witness an album taking shape before [their] ears.” The first piece of Joakim’s planned puzzle, the “Heartbeats” b/w “Another Light” 12″ is out now; a preview of its b-side cut can be heard below. Download a New Mix from DJ Koze

DJ Koze recently released his first full-length in eight years—the XLR8R Pick’d Amygdala—and now the Pampa label head and veteran DJ/producer is the latest to turn in a mix for FACT. Boasting the kind of typically eclectic romp through musical styles that you might expect from the eccentric German artist, DJ Koze’s offering is by equal measure highly listenable and beguiling. The podcast is said to be a sampling of DJ Koze’s favorite records of 2013 so far, and drifts between 4/4 house and more pastoral interludes, in addition to computer generated voice overs and samples from Seinfeld (?!). FACT Mix 387 can be streamed or downloaded here.

Henry Saiz “Fill Me Up (Essáy’s Run Away Remix)”*Natura Sonoris*

Henry Saiz (pictured above) is a Spanish producer on the rise. Having a long line of EPs to his name, the seasoned artist dropped his debut full-length this month, a kaleidoscope of warm electronic hybrids brought together under the mouthful of an album title Reality Is for Those Who Are Not Strong Enough to Confront Their Dreams. To help spread the word, German producer Essáy was brought in to remix album cut “Fill Me Up,” transforming the tune into a patient slice of heavenly half-time music where glowing synths are gradually let loose atop hypnotic rythyms. For those curious to make the comparison, Saiz’s pop-flecked original track can be streamed after the jump.
