Listen to Daft Punk’s ‘Random Access Memories’ LP in iTunes

It’s unlikely that there has been a more hyped record in recent memory than Daft Punk‘s fourth studio LP, so it’s with great relief that we can now say the wait for the record is over. A week before its release on May 21, Random Access Memories can now be heard in full. By opening Daft Punk’s artist page in iTunes, you can stream the entire hour-plus, 13-track LP. Enjoy!

Wildlife! “Oh Bondage! Up Yours! (Ital Tek Remix)”*PHREE *

Ital Tek (a.k.a. Alan Myson, pictured above) has proven to be a prolific producer—the UK tunesmith seems guaranteed to always have a new release or remix in the works. Following this year’s Hyper Real EP on Civil Music, Myson has quickly turned his talents to his remix duties, here warping dubstep producer Wildlife!‘s sparse cover of “Oh Bondage! Up Yours!” by X-Ray Spex into an entirely new form. Despite lifting the majority of the original track’s DNA, Ital Tek’s take results in a much different tune, one stripped of the original’s reggae influence almost completely and focused on skittering drums and furious low-end to augment the rework’s ensuing synth free-for-all. There is quite a few left turns crammed into the track’s four-minute run, including some downright weird chord changes that are enough to give the listener pause. Ital Tek’s remix will serve as the lead track on the Roxy Reboot Remixed EP when it drops via PHREE on May 20.

Marc Houle Launches New Synth-Pop Project, Shares First Single

Former Minus mainstay and co-founder of the Items & Things label—alongisde Magda and Troy Pierce—Marc Houle (pictured above, right) has put together a new synth-pop project with the help of vocal collaborators Joaquim dos Santos (pictured above, left) and Clelia Cantoro (pictured above, center). Together operating as La Folie, the new outfit will release its debut full-length later this year, but before then has shared a video for the album’s first single, “Her New Dress.” As the story goes, the group first began as a “secret” project between Houle and dos Santos, who had together worked on a private set of tunes after meeting over 10 years ago. Now, with the inclusion of Cantoro, La Folie’s efforts have been revisited, re-recorded, and revived for the launching of the new project. While no release date or details have surfaced for group’s debut LP, La Folie has shared a video for its first single, “Her New Dress,” which can be watched below.

Kode9 Preps Single for Rinse; Stream It Now

With the release of his Rinse:22 mix CD a week away, Hyperdub boss Kode9 has announced he will drop a new 12″ early next month. Also appearing on the Rinse label, the “Uh” b/w “Ok” single features two darkly syncopated new tracks which channel the producer’s recent juke influences into something twisted, bass-heavy, and dubwise. The fact that this new pair of tunes will follow so closely behind Kode9’s recent XLR8R-picked “Xingfu Lu” b/w “Kan” single—his first of the last two years—hopefully means we are in for a productive year from the ever-evolving producer and label head. Both “Uh” (a track which will also appear on the man’s forthcoming mix CD) and “Ok” can be streamed in the players below before the single sees a release on June 3.

Robert Hood Announces Debut LP as Floorplan

It may come as a surprise that the extremely influential Detroit producer Robert Hood‘s Floorplan moniker has not yet released a proper full-length, despite its existence since ’96’s Funky Souls EP. Last March, Slam Radio had Hood on the decks for an hour-long mix which previewed some of the tunes from the forthcoming Paradise LP, and we have the full details of that record today. The announcement of Floorplan’s first album follows a string of Floorplan EPs, with the most recent being last year’s Altered Ego. According to its press release, the record will continue in the vein of Hood’s “heavenly mix of house, soul, funk, and gospel” filtered through his “driving, minimalist techno approach.” The album’s artwork and tracklist are available to peruse below, before M-Plant drops Paradise on July 1.

Stay Positive “Leipzig”*Stay Positive Industries*

Although initially believed to be the work of multiple artists, Stay Positive has recently been confirmed as the sole brainchild of London-based producer Matt Farthing. Featured here, the introspective “Leipzig” comes off of Farthing’s Blood Brother EP, which is set for a release on July 1 via his new Stay Positive Industries label. The track balances irresistibly catchy rhythms and pitch-shifted vocal samples with wistful breakdowns that recall Burial’s penchant for ambiance. However, after “Leipzig” falls to a level of similarly sullen sounds, it cleverly switches gears and makes a run for the dancefloor.

Listen to The Black Dog’s New LP

Veteran Sheffield trio The Black Dog has been raising its profile quite a bit in 2013, dropping fresh EPs via its own Dust Science label and crafting an excellent mix of classic Warp material. It seems to have all been leading to a point: the release of Tranklements, The Black Dog’s latest LP, which can now be streamed in full. Thanks to Resident Advisor, the expansive electronic sounds spread across the trio’s 16-track LP can now be heard online a week before they’re released. Tranklements is available to stream here.

John Talabot Announces New Single

In a long belated move, Balearic dance specialist John Talabot has announced a single from his outstanding 2012 record, ƒin, the seminal cut and Pional collaboration “So Will Be Now.” To be released on 12″ only, the single will feature both the original mix and a special extended club edit which revamps Talabot’s patient soundscapes for the dancefloor. “So Will Be Now” is due out on June 7 via Permanent Vacation, but the week prior, the producer will be headlining MUTEK’s Nocturne 4, which will also feature Laurel Halo, Nosaj Thing, and more.

George FitzGerald Readies New 12″ for Hotflush

ManMakeMusic label head George FitzGerald has undoubtedly been keeping busy with his imprint, most recently releasing a collaborative 12″ from Leon Vynehall and Christian Piers, but in the meantime, he’s been able to prep a record of his own for Scuba’s Hotflush label. That said, “Thinking of You” b/w “Nighttide Lover” actually only features one previously unreleased tune, as its a-side has been available digitally since mid-March of this year. The digital version of George Fitzgerald’s upcoming single will offer another never-before-heard cut, ManMakeMusic affiliate Trikk‘s “Re-Dub” of the record’s b-side. Before the 12″ is released on May 20, its a-side can be streamed via the player below.
