Look Like Returns to Akoya Circles

Following his release on DVS1’s Mistress Recordings in early 2017, Look Like is back with a new release on his own Akoya Circles imprint.

Look Like (a.k.a Luca Duran) is a Colombian-Swiss DJ and producer based in Zurich. After growing up in the French part of Switzerland, he soon immersed himself in making music rooted primarily in the strong French hip-hop culture. Only a few years into producing his own tracks, he launched Akoya Circles with the Chicago-inspired Spring & You EP in 2016, after which his debut on Mistress arrived at the start of this year.

Delta is described as “a four track blend of early Detroit and Chicago sounds with a hip-hop sensibility, sprinklings of acidic basslines, and playful drum programming.”

A1. Delta
A2. Questions
B1. Centric Dreams
B2. Oceana

Kassiel ‘Sidere’

Back in May of last year, Bad Panda Records released the debut track from Italy-based duo Kassiel—made up of multi-instrumentalist Federico Bisozzi and DJ-producer/drummer Andrea Normanno—via XLR8R‘s downloads section. Over the last 10 years, Bisozzi and Normanno honed a transfixing sound that hypnotizes and confounds with sonic waves.

Now, the duo are back with their sophomore track, a visceral outing born from recent Kassiel recording sessions during their new Turin residency this year. Built from fierce rhythms and elegant synth lines, the track looks to Turin for its inspiration, aiming to capture the “blend of hi-tech textures and romantic memories of the early ‘900 grandeur of European cities.”

You can pick up “Sidere” via WeTransfer below, with more on Kassiel to come.

Watch a Beautifully Tripped-Out Animation From Populous

Next month, Italian producer Andrea Mangia (a.k.a. Populous) will release his latest album, Azulejos, via Wonderwheel.

Mangia last popped up on our pages when he released a track from the remix package of his previous album,Night Safari, which was released on Bad Panda Records back in September 2014. For his latest album—his fourth solo full-length—Mangia looks to the sounds his new base in Lisbon, Portugal, a place Mangia says became both his studio and muse. Armed with only a laptop, a small MIDI keyboard, and a microphone, Mangia wandered the city collecting field recordings before channeling them into emotive tapestries of sound that act as his love letter to Lisbon.

For the album’s latest single, Mangia enlisted Emanuele Kabu to direct a stunning video full of awe-inspiring animations that perfectly fit the genre-defying track. You can watch the video for “Azul Oro” in full via the player above, with the album available for pre-order here.

Premiere: Hear a Storming Remix From ASOK

On June 2, BLD Tape Recordings will release BLD Remixed Again.

BLD Remixed Again follows last year’s installment in the label’s vinyl-only remix series, which featured remixes by Eric Cloutier, Stojche, and Anastasia Kristensen. For the latest volume, the label has once again enlisted some of the label’s finest supporters to rework BLD originals, this time ASOK, Oliver Deutschmann, and Freddy Fresh.

The three cuts on the record range from Oliver Deutschmann’s warm and hypnotic rework of “Acid On Mars” to Freddy Fresh’s dreamy take on “Before Deep” and ASOK’s gritty, breaks-led interpretation of “Be Apart”—three standout cuts that will surely find their way into the record bags of selectors in the know.

You can pre-order BLD Remixed Again here, with ASOK’s remix streaming in full via the player below.

Henning Baer Next on Fuse Music

Henning Baer will release a new EP on Belgium’s Fuse Music.

In a short space of time, Baer has managed to position himself as a leading protagonist in the evolution of Berlin techno, most notably through his residency at the fabled Grounded Theory events. Looking beyond the trappings of regular techno, his approach as a DJ and artist draws on all kinds of influences, resulting in a sound that fits perfectly with the adventurous tendencies of Fuse as a label and club. His most recent productions have landed on Sonic Groove, K209, Nonplus Records, and his own MANHIGH label.

The ’32-bit’ EP will be the Fuse label’s third release, following on from submissions by Psyk and GoldFFinch.
