Oliver Koletzki Shares Surreal, Animated Video; Watch it Now

On May 19, Stil Vor Talent will release the sixth album from its label head Oliver Koletzki, titled The Arc of Tension.

According to the press release, the 13-track album does away with the vocals of previous outings in favor of a “tropical, downbeat excursion, steeped in spirituality.” This multicolored description is manifested perfectly in the video for lead single, “A Tribe Called Kotori,” in which the viewer is taken on a surreal, animated journey through ritualistic scenes. The track and its video display Koletzki’s connection with downtempo music and spirituality, as he explains:

‘”A Tribe Called Kotori” is exemplary of my love for downtempo music, which I recently rediscovered. The spirituality that sits at the core of the song has its biggest impact when you immerse yourself in the hand drawn video by my good friend and illustrator Chrisse Kunst.’

You can watch the video in full below, alongside the album’s tracklisting, with the single available to purchase here.

Tracklisting:

1. A Tribe Called Kotori

Cityfox’s Brooklyn Mirage to Return This Summer

Earlier this week, New York’s Liquor Authority gave the green light to Cityfox‘s plans to reopen their 6,000-person capacity venue, Avant Gardner.

The Bushwick venue was closed last June due to safety violations cited by the city but will return in the coming weeks following a year of campaigning and lobbying. The venue will, according to Cityfox, hold afternoon-into-late-night events (with closing time set for 4:30 am), as well as corporate parties, art events, filming, photo shoots, and other gatherings. The Brooklyn Mirage, which has hosted the likes of Thugfucker, Henrick Schwarz, and Dixon, is the venue’s outdoor offering.

Stay tuned for a full summer program to come.

Dyed Soundorom, Cassy, and Matthew Dekay Announced for Output’s The Roof

For the fifth summer in a row, the multi-level open air roof deck will host a wide array of international DJs and live bands each day of the week from mid-May to late September. The main draw card is undoubtedly Sunday, which will feature sets from, among others, Dyed Soundorom, D’Julz, Cassy, Matthew Dekay, and Schwarzmann LIVE (Âme & Henrik Schwarz).

Friday night will focus on live performances from full bands and electronic musicians, including Roy Ayers, Amp Fiddler, Penguin Prison, Bedouin, and Satori. You can find the full lineup and tickets here.

Giacomelli ‘Kundalini Timeshares’

Later this month, California-based musician Giacomelli will release his latest full-length, Weather Calculator.

Giacomelli has been a highly active member in experimental music circles and featured in multiple bands in the early 2000’s, bands such as Hypoluxo, See Jams, The Strand, Destroyeur, and ASS. The most notable of his endeavors was The Ohm, an instrumental psychedelic four-piece he formed with friends James Barreto, Zachary Veltheim and Mark Miller, both of the legendary South Florida DIY-slacker-funk-party band Leak Sour.

His latest solo outing, Weather Calculator, was recorded at the Giacomelli’s home studios and follows the Loose Canons 2.0 and Opus I-IV albums with eight diverse and immersive atmospheres. Falling in line with the tradition of west-coast inspired composers exploring the inner state, Giacomelli’s Weather Calculator is a drifting journey full of sprawling analog synthscapes.

Weather Calculator can be pre-ordered over at the Bandcamp page ahead of its April 18 release date, with LP cut “Kundalini Timeshares” available as today’s XLR8R download via WeTransfer below.
