If you haven’t heard of Imprints Records, now would be a good time to get familiar. Founded by Domenico Rosa and Riccardo, the vinyl-only label’s emphasis on quality over quantity has resulted in a succession of very well-received releases. Rosa’s playful Roots On Roof will be the latest to hit stores, an EP that continues to build on the groove that they have established.

On the A-side, the title track’s long synths, funky guitar samples, and heavy kicks will ensure plenty of positive dancefloor vibes—especially approaching the end of a night. On the flip, “Beyond The Jungle” adheres to the less-is-more approach, as Rosa puts his tools to good use in creating an uplifting floor-filler.

Of the three, the final cut, “Walking The Wheel,” is the most interesting production. Shuffling beats combined with lingering, darker synths and pads roll out, while an intermittent bassline—reminiscent of old garage tracks—build an intriguing atmosphere, setting the track apart from similar productions by other artists.

Rosa’s ability to combine old and new production techniques gives the tracks a distinct freshness, without straying from the essence of what makes club tracks great. Roots On Roof is another top quality release from the Imprints label, and one arrives just in time for the warmer months of the year.

Domenico Rosa Roots On Roof EP is scheduled for April 15 release.
