XLR8R‘s Downloads section is constantly growing, updated day after day with loads of free music by a wide array of talented artists from around the world. 2011 was no different, of course, and garnered some of the biggest tunes to hit our pages yet. Looking over our list of the top 100 most downloaded tracks from the past year, it’s hard not to spot a few trends. Obviously, you guys all had a serious thirst for remixes (especially bootlegs of top-shelf producers like Burial and Ricardo Villalobos), and apparently couldn’t get enough from up-and-comers like Salva, Shlohmo, and Sepalcure. Bass-infused house and techno certainly has its place in the Top 100, but it would seem that hip-hop-slanted productions are what truly holds sway in the Downloads feed.
