Edinburgh-raised, now Glasgow-based beatmaker Dressin Red has split his forthcoming Head/Body tape for Astral Black into two parts: the “Head” side that represents the more introspective strains of the young talent’s craft, and the “Body” side that sees Dressin Red focused on the dancefloor. Even without glancing at its title, its easy to tell which side “Body Plan” will land on from its opening bars—a rapid-fire procession of kicks and gritty percussion open up the track, followed closely behind by some stuttered vocals, sweeping chords, and a fantastically buzzing bassline. In short, “Body Plan” is a bit of a monster, one that can be downloaded below ahead of the Head/Body EP/cassette tape’s release via Astral Black on January 26.
The continuously active Aus imprint will invite a new artist to the fold, Glasgow producer Escape, whose debut EP will drop on the label next month. Said to be the first of a string of EPs and an eventual LP for the imprint (all of which are planned to surface in 2015), the artist’s appropriately titled Just Escape EP will offer two original productions and additional remixes from Jacques Greene and Justin Martin.
Ahead of Just Escape‘s release, Aus has passed along a stream of the records title track. Featuring vocalist Daudi Matsiko, the song places soft-echoing guitar strums atop a mellow, shuffling backbeat, which together serve as the base for the introspective electronic outing. Escape’s “Just Escape” production can be heard in its entirety below, where the full tracklist for the artist’s forthcoming EP (out on February 16) has also been included.

Longstanding Spanish DJ and techno producer Oscar Mulero will release his fourth long-player through his own PoleGroup label this spring. The upcoming Muscle and Mind LP is said to unite introspection and abstraction with rough and percussive elements, and follows from 2013’s Biosfera on Detroit Underground; Mulero’s lengthy discography also includes a number of LPs and 12″s for his other label, Warm Up. The arrival of Muscle and Mind in April will be preceded by the release of the Dualistic Concept EP on March 23, comprising two exclusive tracks and a pair of remixes from SHXCXCHCXSH and Stanislav Tolkachev.
Muscle and Mind is officially due out on April 20, and a teaser video can be watched below, where artwork and complete tracklists for both the album and Dualistic Concept EP have also been included.

Helena Hauff will release her first full-length in the form of a cassette via Texas label Handmade Birds. The Hamburg-based techno producer and Golden Pudel resident has accumulated EPs on Werk Discs, Lux Rec, and Panzerkreuz over the past two years, and also serves as one half of Hypnobeat and the PAN-affiliated Black Sites duo with F#X. Her forthcoming A Tape entry into the label’s Handmade Beats series comprises 60 minutes of new material spread across 12 tracks, and marks her second venture into the cassette format, following 2013’s Obscure Object on Blackest Ever Black subsidiary Krokodilo Tapes.

Time-tested producer DJ Deep—who is also set to deliver a record via L.I.E.S. under his new Rebeval alias—and fellow French talent Roman Poncet have been tapped to deliver the next two outings from Berlin label Tresor (an imprint we took an extensive look at the history of in a past Labels We Love feature). Together operating as Adventice, the pair will issue two three-track EPs, Extraction and Hydraulic Jack, in February and March, respectively. The records are said to find the duo “exploring both modern and classic interpretations” of techno ultimately resulting in two “explosive” 12″s.
Arriving first, Adventice’s Extraction EP will see a release on February 23, with the project’s Hydraulic Jack EP set to follow with a release on March 9; both records will be available in vinyl and digital formats. In the meantime, the tracklist and artwork for Adventice’s forthcoming EPs have been included below.

The tirelessly inventive Matias Aguayo has announced plans to launch a four-part 12″ series entitled El Rudo Del House and based on an “imaginary creature who speaks to you with a pitched-down voice and produces heavy house rhythms that are engineered to directly trigger the movement of different body parts.” Musically, the series is said to fall somewhere between the more tropical outings on Aguayo’s 2013 LP The Visitor and the slightly darker cuts featured on his recent Legende EP for Kompakt. The El Rudo Del House series is also said to have been inspired by “the Elbee Bad question, ‘Why not just dance through life?'” a press release explains. With that in mind, Aguayo “pursued the question leading him to this radical dancing Spirit who says you should confront every situation with dancing, and apply this spirit into your everyday life. El Rudo Del House teaches that when we dance we can become other beings, switch our species… Turn into little nervous, jittering muppets or clumsy giants.”
The four-part series’ first installment, entitled Round One, is set to see its official release on March 16 via Aguayo’s own Cómeme imprint, with the following editions slated to arrive in April, May, and June, respectively. While no audio snippets have emerged yet from the forthcoming 12″ series, Round One‘s artwork and tracklist have been included below. Over the years, the pairing of Daedelus and Frosty (a co-founder of Los Angeles-based internet radio station Dublab) have been responsible for a number of EPs and a single full-length album together under the name Adventure Time (all of which appeared on the Plug Research label). Though they haven’t collaborated on an official release together since the mid-aughts, the duo have this week turned in a new album: the sample-strewn, 18-track Of Beyond LP.
Appearing via newly launched Japanese label Rings, the LP finds Daedelus and Frosty using their expertise as master sample slicers to piece together widely diverse audio sources into cohesive beats. The results often veer into playful cosmic territory, but are also often finished with a jazzy touch, and can even get a bit funky from time to time. Furthermore, the pair has chosen to close its new full-length with a handful of remixes, enlisting the likes of Suzanne Kraft, Dntel, Oorutaichi, and Yosi Horikawa (another remix from whom recently landed in our Downloads section) to rework the album’s tracks.

UK producer Joe McBride has spent much of his recent career focused on his role as half of the Houndstooth-affiliated Akkord duo, but on a recent mix, it is McBride’s solo Synkro moniker that has been tapped to deliver an introspective session for the latest installment of i-D‘s Slumber Session series. Featuring plaintive, brittle selections from the likes of Boards of Canada, Move D, Gold Panda, and Oneohtrix Point Never, the mix evolves from piano-led ambience into jungle, instrumental hip-hop, and other experimental styles. McBride’s nearly hour-long set under his Synkro guise can be streamed in full below.
UK producer Jam City (a.k.a. Jack Latham) first announced that he had a new album in the works back in October of last year, at the time sharing the gauzy pop single “Unhappy” to tide people over in lieu of album details. Now, the increasingly unpredictable artist has finally shared the full details of Dream a Garden, his upcoming sophomore LP which will see its release this March via Night Slugs.
According to a press release for the record, Dream a Garden finds Jam City returning with “an urgent, fearless, and strikingly sensitive album of modern pop songs, both crushingly heavy and glitteringly light.” In addition to the LP’s details, Latham has also shared a new video for album cut “Unhappy” (included below), which pairs candid footage of city advertising with the artist’s confessional singing style. Jam City’s Dream a Garden LP drops on March 23; until then the album art and complete tracklist for the record can also be found below.

Earlier this week, Brooklyn duo Goitia Deitz released the vinyl version of its M O D E EP via hometown label Cut Mistake Music. With a digital version of the record set to arrive next week, the pair has now passed along bonus track “Silent Runner” to offer as a free download. A driving synth jam, “Silent Runner” lives up to its title, remaining in constant motion while also maintaing a breezy flow throughout, piling layers of blissful, new-age tones across its skeletal rhythms as the track patiently moves through its seven-plus-minute run. Goitia Deitz’s “Silent Runner” track can be grabbed below, where a preview stream of the East Coast duo’s new EP for Cut Mistake Music can also be found.
