Over the summer, XLR8R debuted a new feature called Ask the Experts, which centered around a simple idea: letting our readers directly ask established artists for advice. So far, the monthly series has been a smashing success. The debut installment featured the German giants of Modeselektor, while the second round was piloted by UK bass manipulator Om Unit. Now that the calendar has flipped once again, it’s time to sign up another expert, and we’re happy to report that Daedelus has stepped up to the plate.

The LA-based artist has been releasing music for more than a decade, and he’ll be adding another album, The Light Brigade (which is being issued via Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint), to his impressive discography on September 30. In terms of experience, Daedelus is someone that has pretty much done it all. He’s toured around the world, worked with a variety of labels, and when it comes to hardware, he’s a noted gear fiend—his Monome-driven live performances are the stuff of legend. As such, it’s hard to imagine that there are many artists out there better equipped to share their know-how with the XLR8R audience.

Earlier this week, Lone was invited to spin some records for Tim Sweeney’s longstanding weekly WNYU radio show, Beats in Space. Now, the UK producer’s 80-minute session from the recent broadcast is available to stream and download in full. Beginning in some more hip-hop aligned territory with tracks from J Dilla and himself, Lone eventually moves on to more dancefloor friendly material, touching on selections from JTC, Tin Man, Randomer, Underground Resistance, and even dropping the lead single from Aphex Twin’s upcoming LP in the mix.

Parisian producer Bambounou will return to the Modeselektor-helmed 50Weapons imprint with a new 12″ in November. The forthcoming “Feel Like This” b/w “Onto This” single is said to feature “two stripped-back club tracks” with the a-side being “built around a hypnotizing vocal sample with hi-hats sharp enough to cut a hole right through to your dance nerves,” while the record’s b-side finds Bambounou “unleashing his talents in a very NY-esque way, with skippy hats that are almost UK garage-like and one of the grooviest organs we’ve heard since [Kerri Chandler’s] ‘Kaoz on King Street’.”

The French producer’s latest turn for 50Weapons will land on November 14. In the meantime, the record’s artwork has been included below.

Last month, Cooly G revealed plans to return to Hyperdub with Wait ‘Til Night, her second full-length effort for the UK label. Ahead of its release, the London-based producer and singer has offered up a stream of LP cut “So Deep,” which finds Cooly G focusing on her own vocals (offset by stripped-back instrumentals and skeletal rhythms), marking a continued departure from the more percussion-driven Cooly G singles that helped to define UK funky.

Forma will debut on New York imprint The Bunker next month with a new EP of kosmische techno. Since delivering Off/On for Spectrum Spools two years ago, the Brooklyn trio (whose membership currently consists of synthesizer players M. Dwinell and John Also Bennett, with George H. Bennett on electronic drums) hasn’t officially released any new material, despite remaining active as a performance unit known for “extended improvisational journeys veering from the ecstatic to the foreboding” that integrate techno, noise, and freeform synth explorations. That looks set to change, however, with Cool Haptics, a two-track, dancefloor-oriented EP officially due out on October 20. Though the previews on offer don’t quite manage to convey the full extent of either track (both of which clock in at around 15 minutes), clips have been made available below.

Cassegrain will deliver its debut album of “rugged, challenging sonics” via Prologue this fall. The Berlin-based duo of Alex Tsiridis and Hüseyin Evirgen has released five EPs through the Munich label since 2012, including the recent Blood Distributed as Pure Colour, in addition to a handful of collaborative 12″s with Tin Man for Killekill. The forthcoming Centres of Distraction LP reportedly takes its cues from “the classic ’90s electronic album format,” spanning “a wide range of tempos and genres.” The record also includes a guest appearance from cellist Nikos Veliotis, who has featured as part of Mohammad for the PAN label, and in Trance 95 on Minimal Wave.

Centres of Distraction is officially due out on November 17 in triple-LP and digital formats, and we’ve included the album’s artwork and tracklist below.

London transplant Ralph Cumbers (a.k.a Bass Clef) has been tapped to appear as the fifth artist on Hypercolour’s Sneaker Social Club imprint next month. The “itinerant trombonist and dubstep exile” is set to follow more experimental issues for labels like PAN and Public Information with a “deluge of saccharine melodies and flecks of ’90s rave and UK garage,” with the three-track Moment Only EP in keeping with prior installments from Al Tourettes, Throwing Snow, and Zoé Zoé.

No previews are available as yet, but the artwork and tracklist are included below ahead of the EP dropping on October 20.
