This week, veteran Montreal producer Ghislain Poirier issued his second album as Boundary, an “imagined sci-fi score” that is now streaming in full. Following his self-titled LP under the alias last year (and a career spent crafting global bass hybrids simply as Poirier), the new Still Life LP finds the artist crafting 12 icy productions which fuse together sprawling electronic passages and detailed rhythmic structures. Out now, Boundary’s second full-length record can be streamed in its entirety below.

Together as Graze, Adam Marshall and Christian Andersen (a.k.a. XI) have put together an exceptionally productive run. After landing with its excellent self-titled debut record (a six-track mini-LP of sorts) in May of last year, the pair went on to release its debut full-length, Edges, in December while also fitting a number of 12″s in before and after its release. Now, Graze has announced it will soon return to Marshall’s own New Kanada label with its sophomore LP, Soft Gamma Repeater.

The seven-track album is said to consist of “six dance-floor bombs and one bittersweet comedown track,” and is furthermore said to have been “conceived and written in one deeply focused chunk of time and effort.” “All seven tracks offer varying takes on a unifying set of ideas about electronic music, physical expression, and the mutable psyche,” the LP’s announcement explains further. “Ultimately, at its core, the suite breaks down to a series of dichotomies—sampling vs. synthesis, body vs. mind, past vs. future, etc.—that are taken not as shackles, but as stepping stones.”

Set to appear on November 17, no audio previews have surfaced for Soft Gamma Repeater, but in the meantime, the LP’s artwork and tracklist can be viewed below. In addition, Graze will also release a 12″ consisting of two non-album cuts early next month.

Hyperdub label boss Kode9 and frequent collaborator The Spaceape will issue a new EP, The Killing Season, next month. The last time the pair could be found operating together was on 2011’s Black Sun LP (during the release of which we discussed the effort and the nature of the artist’s collaboration in a lengthy cover story). Furthermore, Kode9 & The Spaceape’s upcoming five-track effort is said to further expand on the lyrical themes explored on The Spaceape’s “Haitian-inspired” Xorcism EP, which saw its release in 2012. “The emotional, spiritua,l and psychological effects of living with illness and the ‘unknown’ are dissected wryly, but often with unforgiving brutality in this new batch of songs,” states the EP’s accompanying press release.

Serving as our first taste of The Killing Season is the sharp “The Devil Is a Liar,” the accompanying video for which can be watched below. Kode9 & The Spaceape’s new effort will see its official release on October 28 via Hyperdub.

The second installment of the Red Bull Music Academy‘s Diggin’ in the Carts documentary series has arrived. Last week, Diggin’ in the Carts‘ first episode featured the likes of Kode9, Flying Lotus, and J-Rocc as they discussed the influence classic video game soundtracks had on their music. In the series’ new episode, the focus is on the “Outer Reaches of 8-Bit,” as the 15-minute clip dives into the history of companies such as Konami and Sunsoft, discussing the style of music and composers which soundtracked their various games. In addition, further commentary is provided by Flying Lotus, Fatima Al Qadiri, Oh No, and a number of past composers and video game music experts.

InFiné has assembled a remix package for Silent Ascent, the most recent album from Barcelona duo Downliners Sekt, which dropped earlier this year. Among the five producers tapped to deliver remixes, Brooklyn duo Blondes reportedly direct the ambient-leaning “Hors Phase” into more imposing, industrial territory, while Italian producer Chevel draws on “impatient mechanical clangs and whirrs to give his remix a grimier and more percussive feel,” and Warp affiliate patten delivers a “rugged, Burial-esque” take on the album’s title track. Also featured is Berlin’s Monomood, and The Wanderer makes a bonus appearance on the album’s digital version.

Silent Ascent – Remixed is set to arrive on October 13 as a digital and limited-edition white label release. Until then, a promo for the album has been posted below, along with tracklists for both formats.

Venezuelan producer Arca has announced plans to issue his debut LP, Xen, via the Mute label later this year. The forthcoming LP follows the artist’s rather rapid ascension up the beatmaker ladder—from issuing free EPs (as well as some more proper releases) via UNO NYC in 2012, to lending his talents to FKA Twigs’ EP1 and Kanye West’s Yeezus LP before issuing the well-received &&&&& mixtape earlier this year. The 15-track Xen album will serve as the 24-year-old producer’s proper debut full-length and is said to be “the latest in a line of uncompromising, forward-thinking releases” from the adventurous talent.

Glaswegian label Numbers has announced plans to issue Natur, an EP from newcomer Deejay Deer, next month, though very little has been shared about the German producer behind the alias. A press release suggests that “Deejay Deer produces music of such high quality and depth that most people think he’s a true pro who has been hiding in a studio for the past 20 years,” and goes on to say that the largely anonymous producer, who was born and raised in Bavaria, is “hiding in the woods to protect himself from all the fake producers in the city.” Natur is set to arrive on October 6, and in the meantime, the EP’s percussive lead track “Unnatural”—which features orchestral breakdowns and a shuffling, Caribou-style beat—has been made available to stream in full below.

Over the summer, longtime DFA affiliate Nancy Whang announced an upcoming collection for German house label Gomma, which found her partnering with producers like Etienne de Crecy and Audiojack to rework classic disco tracks originally released on the legendary Casablanca label. Now, ahead of the release of The Nancy Whang Casablanca Reworks, the former LCD Soundsystem vocalist is premiering EP cut “Flashlight” via XLR8R. The track was originally released by George Clinton’s funk group Parliament, and is treated to an early ’90s, stripped-back house rework by Whang and UK disco producer The Revenge. Described as “a trippy track with super deep kicks, a patient build-up of tension, and lots of bubbling synths that come at you from below,” “Flashlight” can be streamed in full below before The Nancy Whang Casablanca Reworks drops on September 12.
