A standout from Luke Vibert‘s acid-laced Ridmik LP (released last week via Hypercolour), the swinging “Acage” has recieved a video treatment. One of the record’s funkier efforts, the low-swung bass and lazy chords of “Acage” are accompanied by entrancing bits of augmented reality. Giant flocks of birds are manipulated into ever-changing shapes, and then used to turn the lines between telephone poles into increasingly twisted patterns throughout the piece. Veteran DJ/producer George Evelyn celebrates his 25th anniversary of releasing music as Nightmares on Wax this year, a birthday he also shares with longtime label home Warp, and has announced some big plans to mark the occasion. In addition to issuing a career-spanning compilation, Evelyn will also embark on a North American and European tour lasting from late spring to early fall.
The N.O.W. is the Time collection will follow just under a year from Nightmares on Wax’s seventh album for Warp, 2013’s Feelin’ Good, when it drops on June 16. The release will be packaged as two CDs of highlights from his discography, and also as a vinyl box set featuring the compilation, two LPs worth of exclusives and rarities, and a 12″x12″ book of “unseen photographs, memorabilia, and extensive interviews with key figures in the development of Nightmares On Wax—including Warp co-founder Steve Beckett, original Nightmares member Kev Harper, Robin Taylor-Firth, and George [Evelyn] himself—conducted by Bill Brewster (author of Last Night A DJ Changed My Life).” Though neither the CD nor the vinyl tracklists are currently available, the artwork for N.O.W. is the Time can be found below, where the extensive list of dates for Nightmares on Wax’s five month tour are also included. Co-produced by Tri Angle label mate The Haxan Cloak, the debut solo LP from WIFE (real name James Kelly) will drop via the excellent label in June. Described as a “disorientating and splintered pop record,” WIFE’s What’s Between LP will offer nine new tracks from the multi-instrumentalist who once served as the frontman to metal outfit Altar of Plagues before breaking out on his own late last year with the Stoic EP (released via Left Blank).

Last year’s Urban Animal was pitched as Claude VonStroke‘s most personal album to date. It was certainly a diverse effort, one that touched upon a variety of styles and tempos and even found the producer born Barclay Crenshaw reaching back to his drum & bass roots. Next month, he’ll be issuing Urban Animal RMXS via his own Dirtybird label, and the 12-track collection appears to have been put together in a similarly diverse manner. Scheduled for release on May 5, the album includes efforts from European house staples Dixon and Solomun, more bass-oriented fare from Jimmy Edgar and Eprom, and several other reworks. VonStroke has also made sure to honor his drum & bass heritage once again by enlisting both Photek and Krust to remix “Oakland Rope.” Streaming previews of each track can be heard in the player below, and we’ve also included the LP’s tracklist.

Berlin-based artist Perera Elsewhere (a.k.a. Sasha Perera) recently shared a free stream of “Light Bulb (Shlohmo Remix),” which will appear on the deluxe edition of her Everlast LP on May 6 via Friends of Friends. Now, she is offering up another forthcoming cut with “Drunk Man (Prefuse 73 AA Meditation Mix),” which sees longstanding beatmaker Prefuse 73 (pictured above) give Perera Elsewhere’s tune a dreamy makeover. Conjuring a brilliant assortment of delicately soaring synth arpeggios, plucked strings, and a hypnotically fluid bassline, the astral tune is overlaid with Perera’s fragile vocals that resonate flawlessly atop Prefuse 73’s feathery production.
Though it only launched in 2012, Croatia’s Dimensions Festival has quickly become of one the world’s more anticipated events, at least among fans of quality electronic music. The 2014 festivities were first announced in December, along with an initial line-up boasting the likes of Mala, Caribou, Jon Hopkins, Om Unit, and Vatican Shadow. Additional artists have been enlisted in the months that followed, and today, the bill received another shot in the arm, thanks to another round of additions. Theo Parrish (pictured above) will be performing live and DJing at the festival, and he’ll be joined by Robert Hood, Jackmaster and Oneman (who will be doing a joint Can U Dance set), Marcel Dettmann, Kelela, Ben Klock, Special Request, Tama Sumo, Nick Hoppner, and others. Dimensions is set to take place from August 27-31 at Fort Punta Christo in Pula, Croatia. The complete line-up, which will eventually boast more than 200 acts, 11 stages, and 30 boat parties, can be viewed on the Dimensions website.
Last month, Jacques Greene told the world about his forthcoming new EP for LuckyMe, and followed up the announcement a few days later by sharing a stream of “No Excuse,” the record’s dreamy lead single. Now, the song has been graced with an official video. The clip, which premiered via The Guardian UK, matches the track’s billowing synths and clacking rhythms with a bold color palette and slow-motion imagery of children doing gymnastics. The video can be viewed below, and the song can be procured on April 28, along with the rest of the Phantom Vibrate EP. In the meantime, Greene will also begin a run of tour dates, some of which feature his new, hardware-based live show, across both North America and Europe. The full itinerary can also be found below.

Veteran producer Aaron Funk’s Venetian Snares alias has been off the radar for over two years now, since he delivered 2012’s Fool the Detector EP and the self-releasedAffectionate earlier that year. Even his various monikers, such as the acid-focused Last Step, have remained quiet. Thankfully, the Canadian experimentalist has now announced his return, unveiling the details of a brand-new album called My Love Is a Bulldozer. The 12-track LP is Funk’s first full-length since 2010’s My So-Called Life, and is said to “[mesh] together sometimes thunderous-yet-complex drum programming with delicate musical structures, creating, in places, a sense of haunted, atmospheric jazziness, as well as spiky autumnal strings recalling the gothic orchestral beauty of his previous work.” Essentially, My Love Is a Bulldozer seems primed to offer a fiery document of Venetian Snare’s many permutations all at once, albeit with a larger vocal component than ever before.
In addition to his forthcoming album, Funk has a North American tour planned for this summer, which will see him traversing the West Coast, with quick jaunts through Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York. The trio of Peverelist, Kowton, and Asusu, collectively known as Livity Sound, garnered plenty of acclaim last year with its self-titled debut LP, and if the group’s recently launched remix series—which kicked off with one installment from MMM and Pangaea and followed it with a double dose of A Made Up Sound—continues to maintain such a high level of quality, it’s likely that the Bristol-based outfit’s 2014 will be filled with just as many kudos. A third remix 12″ was announced today, and will include reworks from Ghost-202 (a.k.a. Ron Morelli [pictured above] and Svenghalisghost) and UK bass scientist Beneath. The L.I.E.S.-affiliated duo will tackle Pev’s “Livity,” while Beneath takes on Kowton’s “Jam01.” Previews of both efforts can be heard below, and the 12″ will be released on April 28.
Just two weeks ago, Jamie xx shared the news that he would soon be releasing a new 12″ via the Young Turks label. He also offered up a stream of “Sleep Sound,” and now, a proper video for the track has emerged. Put together by London-based artist and poet Sofia Mattioli, the clip was actually inspired by a chance encounter. She explains, “I was on a train listening to music, getting deep into it, and this girl started staring at me… After a while I took my headphones off and she came up to me, started signing and then wrote me a note to say that she was deaf but could almost feel the music by my movement.” Following that exchange, Mattioli was commissioned to do the “Sleep Sound” video, for which “she danced with 13 members of the Manchester Deaf Centre with ages ranging from five to 27 years old, who responded to the movement of the artist and the vibrations in the air given off by the song.” It’s an intriguing concept, and one that is portrayed in a rather elegant fashion in the softly lit final piece. The video was originally posted at Nowness, but can also be seen in the player below. The “G.I.R.L.” b/w “Sleep Sound” will be released on May 5.
