A stapleofourDownloads section in recent years, UK producer Deft has fashioned himself as a tireless producer keen to move through any number of club-wise sounds. Continuing his efforts, the man’s latest record, Always Greener, is set to see a full release later this month, but can now be streamed in full exclusively via XLR8R.

Deft’s forthcoming EP is said to find the Croydon resident presenting “his signature blend of cinematic soundscapes and crisp, intricate percussion” across five genre-bending tracks. With the WotNot label’s release of Always Greener just around the corner (March 24, to be exact), Deft’s five latest electronic concoctions can be heard in their entirety below.

More commonly associated with the Michigan and New York electronic music scenes, a new mini-doc takes a trip through Ghostly co-founder Matthew Dear‘s roots in a remote Texas town. Appearing as part of Resident Advisor‘s Origins video series, the 10-minute film follows Dear as he revisits Kingsville, the town he was born and raised in before moving to Detroit as a teenager. Along for the trip is Dear’s father, a musician himself, who helps his son navigate some of his earliest memories before joining him to play some guitar in the clip’s closing minutes.

More often associated with Matias Aguayo’s eccentric Cómeme imprint, Mexican-born DJ/producer Rebolledo will release a new mix CD, Momento Drive, via Kompakt this spring. With the acute acknowledgement that physical DJ mixtapes are “just something you don’t do anymore,” Kompakt portrays Rebolledo’s forthcoming contribution to the medium as being “just as engaging and idiosyncratic as any artist album.” To that effect, the 15-track mix CD will incorporate a number of the artist’s own productions, as well as tracks from Pachanga Boys, a group which counts Rebolledo as a member.

Set to drop on May 5, the artwork (inspired by the cover for Wally On the Road from Pinoy rock legend Wally Gonzalez) and tracklist for Rebolledo’s Momento Drive are included below. In the meantime, curious individuals can revisit the man’s 2011 XLR8R podcast to get a better idea of what the unique talent may have in store.

After he was spotlighted in our Bubblin’ Up Week 2014 feature shortly after the New Year, budding London producer MssingNo—who is rumored to have a record in the works for Tri Angle—is recirculating a free download of his bootleg remix of R&B singer Brandy from last year’sProduction Mix. The shadowy artist’s knack for remixing classic R&B cuts continues as he captures a catchy sweet spot with the perfect vocal flip, a hard-hitting beat, and a circling synthline. With its Velo di Maya EP set to drop later this month via New York club institution-turned-record label The Bunker, Italian techno mavens Donato Dozzy and Neel (who together operate as Voices from the Lake) stopped by WNYU last night to deliver an ambient set for Beats in Space. Eschewing the more deeply rhythmic sounds they’re more often known for, the pair’s broadcast for the long-running radio show focuses on enveloping textures, bouts of cosmic noise, and slow-morphing ambient movements. The set concludes with a brief interview with Beats in Space host Tim Sweeney, in which Voices from the Lake discusses the origins of the project and the effects that the 2011 Japanese earthquake and the Fukushima nuclear fallout has had on its music.

Wedidit crew member and Friends of Friends affiliate Groundislava (a.k.a. Jasper Patterson) hasn’t released very much since giving away his Treasure Chest EP almost a year ago. And though we’ve been told that his next single will arrive in June, followed by his third full-length record in the fall, the details of those releases have yet to be shared. What we do know is that Patterson is just a few weeks away from launching his headlining European tour. The quick jaunt will find the SoCal DJ/producer hopping around Sweden, Italy, Denmark, Poland, and beyond between March 28 and April 6.
