With Strut‘s new double-disc retrospective of pioneering Chicago label Dance Mania out this week, Nina Kraviz has shared a fresh mix made completely of the ghetto-house institution’s vinyl from her own collection. “I fell in love with Dance Mania on the first listen, more then 10 years ago at the record store,” Kraviz explained in an email accompanying the 50-plus-minute set. “The rawness and simplicity of the beats, combined with the badass realness of the human voices recorded on the first take, linked with my personality from the first second, and later influenced me a lot as a DJ and a producer.”

Karviz’s affection for the label can be heard across the entire mix, which is said to have been recorded live and finds the veteran selector covering some of the label’s best known sounds, including acid-fueled cuts from Parris Mitchell, DJ Funk, and Vincent Floyd, among others. Kraviz’s appropriately titled Dance Mania Only Vinyl Live Mix can be streamed and download in full below, though no official tracklist has been made available.

One week from today, boundary-pushing UK producer and Hemlock label boss Untold will release his first official album, an eight-track affair called Black Light Spiral, via his own imprint. And though we’ve already heard a couple of his latest uncanny tunes, the artist born Jack Dunning has offered a full stream of his upcoming record before its arrival on February 24. The album is described as “unhindered, spontaneous, and completely raw,” as well as “perfectly imperfect,” and can be heard in its entirety now, courtesy of Pitchfork Advance. Furthermore, Untold is launching is brand-new A/V live performance this weekend, the details of which can be found here.

A standout from last years excellent Immunity LP (a record which we deemed the best release of 2013), Jon Hopkins‘ “Collider” is the focus of a new EP featuring an all-star cast of remixers, including UK duo Karenn—whose take on the track can be streamed now exclusively via XLR8R. Together, Blawan and Pariah bury “Collider” much deeper than Hopkins likely ever intended, squashing the original tune’s pulsing pads beneath thick layers of tweaked hardware and an unrelenting kick drum.

Before the Collider Remixes EP sees a release February 25—with additional reworks from Hessle Audio co-head Pangaea and Berlin producer Objekt—Karenn’s contribution to the effort can be streamed in full below.

With artists like Demdike Stare, Andy Stott, Claro Intelecto, and Vatican Shadow populating the bulk of its discography in recent years, the Modern Love label has become an incredibly reliable outpost for noisy explorations of dark and brooding house and techno, but it’s not exactly an imprint that most people would associate with hip-hop. However, that hasn’t stopped the Modern Love gang from bringing Jack Dice into the fold; the duo, which includes Type Records boss John Twells and Main Attraktionz affiliate Walker Chambliss, actually debuted on Modern Love in 2012 with the Block Motel EP. Now, the pair has issued its follow-up, a five-track effort entitled Sip Paint. The record, which is streaming in full below, contains many of Modern Love’s usual sonic signifiers, as songs like “Low Glo,” “Kerosene,” and “Radium Dial” are thoughtful instrumental cuts rooted in the grey tones and melancholy vibes that color much of the label’s catalog. It’s really “Stash’s Theme” that sets Jack Dice apart, as the tune borrows the snapping snares, rolling triplets, and throbbing bass notes of modern-day hip-hop and also features MC Stash Marina flowing atop its rhythms. One wouldn’t normally associate the words “getting crunk” or references to “ass and titties” with Modern Love, but it actually works. Apart from the record, a video has also been commissioned for “Stash’s Theme.” It can be viewed below, along with the EP artwork.

Claiming roots in both San Francisco and Paris, the Spring Theory label will launch next month with a new three-track EP from rising Bay Area producer Avalon Emerson. Set to drop on March 30, the forthcoming Church of SoMa EP is intended as a homage to Emerson’s “long nights spent dancing and DJing in one particularly loved warehouse” in San Francisco’s South of Market district (a.k.a. SoMa). Along with the two original productions slated to appear on the upcoming effort, Stockholm producer Johan Cederberg (a.k.a. HNNY) has been enlisted to remix the EP’s title track. Before the Church of SoMa EP sees an official release next month, its three efforts can be previewed below.

Taking cues from the spirit of today’s holiday, several producers have prepared affectionately-themed mixes for lovers, the lovelorn, and the lovesick alike.

Stones Throw label-boss Peanut Butter Wolf (pictured above) has put together a massive 24-hour mix for FACT entitled The ABC’s of Love and featuring over 500 soulful tracks personally selected from the man’s very own collection. The full mix can be streamed here.

Veteran DJ and BBC Radio 1 affiliate Benji B put his own spin on the holiday with the sensual Benji B’s Valentine Art of Seduction Mix, which can be streamed in its entirety here.

Formula Records boss Champion shares “underground classics and fresh bits in celebration of V.Day” on his hour-long Slow Jams Mix, which can be listened to here.

Stepping away from the love-steeped festivities is Nightwave‘s brand-new set for Electronic Explorations, which dropped today. The Heka Trax founder notes that her 35-minute mix is a “dedication to early dance classics that inspired me to get into production and DJing.” That mix can be streamed here.

Branching out from its ubiquitous party-in-a-room videos, Boiler Room has launched Beats Unraveled, a new series in which artists are invited to re-create the work of other established electronic producers live. Coming out of the gate strong, the first episode enlists Dutchman Binkbeats to cover Caribou‘s “Bowls.” Re-creating the track in one take with the help of looping software, Binkbeats utilizes a few tables of gear and acoustic instruments to conjure up the wide array of sounds heard in Caribou’s original (from his excellent 2010 LP Swim).

Although this new video marks Boiler Room’s first Beats Unraveled episode, Binkbeats himself has been covering electronic tracks in a similar fashion for some time now, including cuts from Flying Lotus, Baths, and Lapalux.
