Over two years since his first full-length Stone Breaker landed via Ghostly’s Spectal Sound label, Mark E will return to the imprint to deliver his sophomore album this spring.

The nine-track Product of Industry LP is said to be heavily influenced by the industrial history of the UK’s Midlands region, where the respected producer and his family have presided for generations. In the album’s press release, Mark E explains, “The name lies in the manufacturing past of the area [where] I grew up… How the decline of industry in the Midlands UK changed the landscape physically and socially—I’m now a music producer and DJ, and this is totally different to my grandparents, who were truck drivers and sheet metal workers.” He goes on to further explain that the title comes from “how things have changed, and how I came to be in this position, due to the current global financial situation. I lost my job due to it, [which led to me] trying out music—and here I am, a product of industry, both currently and historically.” In addition, the press release explains that the record was made with an emphasis on musical machinery, utilizing mostly analog gear, in comparison to Stone Breaker, which Mark E reveals was “100% digital.”

Spectral Sound will officially release Mark E’s sophomore full-length on April 28. In the meantime, the forthcoming record’s tracklist is included below.

Bill Kouligas’ experimental PAN imprint had an exceptional 2013, further cementing itself as a trustworthy label for conceptual innovations in music. 2014 looks to be just as busy for the prolific outpost—after starting the year with a new EP from roster mainstay Helm, PAN has detailed its release schedule for the coming months.

First, February 17 will see a label debut from acid-indebted artist Bass Clef, who will release the four-song Raven Yr Own Worl EP. The following week, Italian producer Valeri Tricoli will release a double album (and first solo LP in six years), titled Miseri Lares. In March, London-based producer and No Symbols label founder Beneath will debut a self-titled, four-track EP (his first for PAN). Tentatively set for April, the improvisational duo of Helena Hauff and f#x (a.k.a. Black Sites) also have a new EP in the works, called Unit 2669. Finally, rising Berlin-based producer and new PAN signing M.E.S.H. will unveil his self-titled EP, though a release date has not been announced.

The same week she released her Hold Me EP via Hyberdub, dynamic UK DJ/producer Cooly G has just dropped a fresh mix to stream and download. Throughout the London artist’s 37-minute podcast for Dummy is an intriguing range of sensual, club-focused jams, many of which play with a variety of classic and contemporary house sounds. Playing off the flavor of her new EP as much as it offers an intriguing conterpart, Cooly G’s new mix can be streamed and downloaded below; a condensed interview discussing the artist’s future plans, among other topics, can be read here.

Although last year saw the Los Angeles techno vet launch his Major People label, Santiago Salazar‘s first release of 2014 will drop next month via Spanish label Fanzine. The four-track Departure EP is said to find the Underground Resistance affiliate and former XLR8R podcast contributor providing “four pieces of soulful electronic music suitable for mind or body dancing, [utilizing] slow tempos, vintage drums, resonant pads, and heavy synth workouts.” Before Salazar’s new EP sees a vinyl release on February 24 (the digital release arrives the following week), its air travel-themed tracklist and a preview of each tune are included below.

Will Bankhead’s Trilogy Tapes label will release new 12″s from Maxmillion Dunbar (operating under his Max D alias and pictured above) and A Made Up Sound (a.k.a. 2562) late next month, and has preempted their release with previews of each record. Both Max D’s Drizzling Glass EP and A Made Up Sound’s Night Owl EP will mark each artist’s debut on the label, and—given what we can glean from each release’s lead single—the two records take drastically different sonic paths.

After detailing its initial lineup and a host of label-curated showcases, Asheville, North Carolina’s Moogfest has announced a new wave of additional artists for the 2014 art, music, and technology event. Entering its fourth year in Asheville, Moogfest “honors the creativity and inventiveness of Dr. Robert Moog and pays tribute to the legacy of the analog synthesizer.” Additional artists set to perform at the spring festival—which takes place from April 23 to 27—include the likes of Brooklyn experimental outfit Black Dice, LA beat wizard Flying Lotus (pictured above), electro-pop veterans Pet Shop Boys, Berlin-based producer Machinedrum’s Vapor City Live show, London trio Factory Floor, Matthew Dear’s techno alias Audion, agit-pop star M.I.A., Modeselektor’s and Apparat’s collaborative Moderat project, and more. Following London-based vocalist Fatima‘s recently released “Family” b/w “La Neta” single for Eglo—both tracks from which were produced by Flako—is this new video for “La Neta.” Directed by Sebastian Hallqvist and shot entirely in New York City, the location-based piece contrasts various cold and dreary sites in the Big Apple, with Fatima’s colorful attire and upbeat demeanor successfully complimenting her soulful sincerity. The persistently transient nature of the video accents the fluidity of Fatima’s vocals and Flako’s funky production, providing an effective metaphor for when she sings “I can do whatever I want to.”
