As we continue to wait for the release of his second album via Warp on February 25, forward-thinking London producer patten has gone ahead and updated his website, a slick redesign which launched today along with a batch of edits the artist is offering for free download. Called RE-EDITSvol3, the four-track package includes chopped-up, vamped-up versions of tracks from the likes of Burial, FKA Twigs, and more—all of which boast a healthy dose of heavy beats and mercurial atmospheres. The free download can be found by heading over to patten’s new website and clicking on the perforated circle icon (or “section5”).

German electronic experimenter Kangding Ray has announced plans to release his fourth studio album, Solens Arc, next month via Raster-Noton. As Resident Advisor reports, the 12-track record aims to form four compositional arcs across its run; the accompanying press release further explains that “the different sequences are arranged seamlessly into dense, evolving compositions, while keeping their autonomy.”

Before the new LP sees a release on February 28, we are provided with a video for album track, “History of Obscurity,” which utilizes a series of computer-processed, black-and-white waves to visually highlight the artist’s patiently brooding piece of hi-fi techno. WIth a new EP for Ghostly set to drop next month, Brooklyn-based synth wizard Com Truise has shard a new live video which finds him twisting knobs and manipulating a wide array of cosmic noises alongside his touring drummer. The newly surfaced clip captures the New Jersey-bred artist performing “Glawio” (a cut from his 2012 LP, Galactic Melt) while at Los Angeles’ Echoplex venue for an evening with the Check Yo Ponytail crew last year. Shot in black-and-white, the clip provides an intriguing preview of what to expect when Com Truise and company take to the road next month in support of the forthcoming Wave 1 EP. One could quite safely assume that breakout UK duo Disclosure will be able to coast on the success of its Settle LP (not to mention multiple awards nominations) into the foreseeable future, and that streak continues today with this brand-new video for elastic album cut “Grab Her.” Adopting a more playful tone than previous clips for brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence’s catchy singles, director Emile Sornin’s piece tells the story of a drab office space with a brazenly obnoxious boss whose touch seems to send everything hurtling towards the sky. The lightness of the narrative works well with Disclosure’s buoyant basslines and slinky beats.

Back in the middle of December, we caught wind of a forthcoming 12″ from Seattle DJ/producer Pezzner and Italian vocalist Amina, a three-track single on the way via Crosstown Rebels. Following the two original tracks from the duo is a remix of lead cut “Exit” by Hotflush label boss Scuba, the premiere of which we’re happy to share with you today. The tech-y vocal-house tune is taken to even deeper territory by the DJ/producer born Paul Rose, whose nine-minute version of “Exit” relies largely on one steady bassline, a couple of syncopated synth patterns, and loads of atmosphere. Amina’s quiet vocals even bubble to the surface from time to time. Below, “Exit (Scuba Remix)” can be streamed in its entirety ahead of the record’s official release on February 3.

A month from now, London DJ/producer and Perc Trax label head Ali Wells (a.k.a. Perc) will issue his The Power and The Glory LP, an album which will arrive complete with 10 biting and energetic cuts of gnarled techno experiments. One such track is “Take Your Body Off,” and we’re pleased to be premiering its video today. Produced by Dan Tombs, the heavily mangled visuals are an ideal counterpart for the punishing beats of our first glimpse into Perc’s new record, as the abstract imagery flickers and distorts in time with the rapid tempos and anguished vocals from Dan Chandler of London noise-rock band Dethscalator. It’s rarely clear what exactly we’re looking at in Tombs’ piece for “Take Your Body Off,” which, again, speaks to the uncanniness of Perc’s production. The video can be seen below before The Power and the Glory drops on February 17 via Perc Trax.

A consistent favorite at XLR8R HQ, Berlin techno institution Ostgut Ton has its first album release of the year already in the pipeline, the second solo full-length by renowned DJ/producer/sound engineer Tobias Freund (a.k.a. Tobias.). The 10-track A Series of Shocks will arrive on March 31 (roughly three years after his debut LP), and is said to “[take] us ever further into the purist, evolving sonic world of Tobias.” across “sixty-one-and-a-half minutes of inventive, contemporary electronic music.” Soon after the record’s release, a launch party will be held at Berghain on April 5, featuring a live performance from Tobias., Peter Van Hoesen, Margaret Dygas, and more.
