Los Angeles producer and Body High label co-founder Jerome Potter (a.k.a. Jerome LOL) has shared a contorted new single from his forthcomingDeleted/Fool EP, featuring guest vocals from Chicago singer/songwriter Angelina Lucero. “Fool” lays a framework of clattering, repurposed drum samples and frail synth pads for Lucero, whose downcast vocal performance congeals with a pitched-up, harmonic chorus. Jerome LOL’s Deleted/Fool EP will see an official release on February 4 via Friends of Friends; in the meantime, the full stream of “Fool” can be found below.

Chicago-raised, New York-based DJ/producer Brenmar has annonced plans to drop a mixtape of original productions next month, sharing lead cut “Medusa” for free download along with the news of the upcoming collection. Set to drop on February 5, Brenmar’s High End Times Vol. 1 (artwork above) will gather eight original productions, all of which feature guest vocalists. Before the mixtape sees its official release, its Rush Davis-featuring “Medusa” cut can be streamed and downloaded below, where the tracklist for Brenmar’s High End Times Vol. 1 is also included. Honey Soundsystem—the four-member San Francisco DJ collective which we extensively profiled during our recent Bubblin Up Week—has announced details of an upcoming tour which will find the outfit hitting both the East Coast and the Midwest in February. The brief stint will begin in Philadelphia on February 7, and move around the Eastern coastline before landing in Chicago and Detroit the following week. Of particular note, the group’s Chicago performance will be part of a bigger celebration of disco legend Patrick Cowley and the recent reemergence of his lost gay-porn soundtracks, compiled on last year’s excellent School Daze LP.

Beginning at this year’s Coachella festival in Indio, California, Swedish avant-electro duo The Knife has announced its first American tour since 2006’s Silent Shout LP. Touring off the back of last year’s groundbreaking double-album Shaking the Habitual, the politically charged group says its new live performance will “play with the expectations and question habits of the concert, the dance performance, the club, and the music festival.” Tickets for the 2014 shows will officially go on sale this Saturday, January 18, with the exception of the Fox Theater date in Oakland (on sale January 17, noon PST). A quickly rising outpost for rough-and-ready dancefloor music in 2013, New York’s White Material seems primed to flourish in the New Year. We’ve already named label affiliate Galcher Lustwerk an Artist to Watch in 2014, and now, White Material co-founder DJ Richard has made his first move of the year, dropping a brand-new mix of “‘really dirty’ 12″s.” Appearing over on Juno Plus today, the hour-plus-long podcast arrived with no tracklist, but the sizable Q&A with DJ Richard that accompanies it reveals that his label will soon repress its first three releases (by Young Male, DJ Richard, and Galcher Lustwerk, respectively), with the next new record coming from DJ Richard himself. That whole interview can be read here, and the podcast—which its creator describes as being “made up of records that have been in heavy rotation in my sets lately… specifically house records that I have the most fun playing out”—can be streamed and downloaded below.

Enrollment for the illustrious Red Bull Music Academy—which will be set in Tokyo for its 2014 session (and coincides with the release of RBMA’s freeVarious Assets: Not For Sale compilation)—has officially opened to the public. Following a memorable event in New York City last year, RBMA’s 15th edition will be accepting applications until March 15, with the academy scheduled to run from October 12 to November 14.
