Japanese group Crystal has released a video for its bouncy, retro-futuristic collaboration with Sound Pellegrino co-founder Teki Latex. The video, which requires the use of 3D glasses to get the full effect, is a goofy accompaniment to the track’s light-hearted brand of dancefloor-ready synth-pop. SND.PE Vol. 1, the Japanese version of which includes “Get It?!” as a bonus track, is out now via Sound Pellegrino.
Listen to Beautiful Swimmers’ Debut LP

After a bit of a quiet period, the DC-based Future Times label is moving fast at the moment, having dropped a new EP from Huerco S. a few weeks back and preparing for next month’s release of the debut LP by Beautiful Swimmers (a.k.a. Future Times co-head Andrew Field-Pickering—perhaps better known as Maxmillion Dunbar—and Ari Goldman). But before the pair’s Son album drops on July 9, its 11 tracks can now be streamed in full. As to be expected, Beautiful Swimmer’s record is quite a varied affair, one that inhabits the more galactically inspired ends of house and disco with flashes of dreamy boogie and recurring glimpses of sun-soaked electronics strewn throughout. Son can be heared in its entirety over on NPR.
Download a New Mix from Jon Hopkins

Jon Hopkins is currently riding high off the unanimous critical success of his XLR8R Pick’d new album Immunity. Now, on the same day he appeared in our In the Studio feature series, the UK producer has become the latest contributor to FACT’s frequently excellent mix series, turning in something that sits somewhere between a DJ set and a live session, with Hopkins adding keyboards and other sounds to most of the tracks. With a tracklist that features some of the biggest contemporary names in adventurous house and techno—including Actress, Scuba, Boddika, Joy Orbison, and Matthew Dear—the podcast offers an insight into some of the artist’s inspiration for his cinematic music. Hopkins’ FACT mix can be streamed or downloaded here.
Check Out a Collaborative Tune from Addison Groove and DJ Die

It seems that UK DJ/producer Addison Groove (pictured above) has been on something of a collaborative tear recently, working with the likes of Sam Binga and drum & bass veteran DJ Die on a handful of 808-heavy tracks. One of those latest productions is a frantic tune which samples the famous Brazilian song “Morro Do Dendê” for its juke-inspired purposes. Speaking on his “Morro Dub Dendê” track with DJ Die, Addison Groove says, “Rather than sell the tune, we decided to make a video for it. We simply don’t want to profit from what the message is about, which is the growing corruption within Brazil.” And the clip which accompanies the music fits perfectly with the message, as the two Bristolian producers have borrowed bits of the 2007 film Tropa de Elite to highlight the “national unrest within Brazil” and “give a little insight into whats really happening.” The video for Addison Groove & DJ Die’s “Morro Dub Dendê” can be seen below.
Vondelpark “Always Forever (Tuesday Born Remix)”**

The latest offering from Tuesday Born is a remix that nods to the beachside atmosphere of Vondelpark‘s “Always Forever,” drawing it into more pensive and solitary surroundings. The London native replaces the original version’s gentle synths and reverb-soaked guitars with a plentiful array of electronics, save for a drifting piano that carefully dances between chords in the track’s opening seconds. And it’s the subtleties apparent in Tuesday Born’s remix which make it successful; the resonant frequencies emanating from the instrumentation, the distant and hazy ambience that fills in the track’s low-key moments, and the subtle vocal manipulation all pay testament to the young producer’s talent.
Artifact Self-Releases New EP

Bubblin’ Up DJ/producer Artifact has added another effort to his increasingly consistent run of releases, dropping the four-track Drafty EP earlier today. As the Bristol native explained in an email, this new EP compiles a few “new and old tracks of mine that I’ve always wanted to get out there,” and is meant to tide us over until some official releases are issued by the artist in the coming months. The Drafty EP can be heard in full below, and downloaded via Bandcamp.
Stream Clouds’ Upcoming Debut Album for Turbo

Scottish production duo Clouds—who just last week contributed an installment to our High Five feature series—is set to release its debut album next week, following close on the heels of last month’s formidible Man Out of Dubs EP. But before Ghost Systems Rave drops via Tiga‘s Turbo label, it can now be heard in its entirety. Clouds’ new record is in many ways the culmination of the pair’s steadily evolving sound, which has grown from the brash, immature electro-house of its earliest releases to a particularly dark, messy form of techno. Ghost Systems Rave will be available on July 1, but in the meantime, can be streamed in full here, courtesy of Resident Advisor.
Watch a Short Documentary on Motor City Drum Ensemble

After slowing down his once prodigious tour and release schedule in the last couple of years, Motor City Drum Ensemble (a.k.a. Danilo Plessow) has recently returned to the grind, touring once again and releasing the Send A Prayer EP via his own MCDE imprint. He’s also been made the focal point of a new mini-doc for Resident Advisor‘s Behind the Beats series, the first installment of which featured Nina Kraviz. In its latest piece, Resident Advisor trails the now Utrecht-based DJ/producer to a number of his gigs around Europe, and Plessow discusses the stresses that lead to his extended break from the limelight.
Kyle Hall and FunkinEven Ready New FunkinEvil 12″

The collaborative duo of young Detroit techno mainstay Kyle Hall and UK analog fiend FunkinEven, FunkinEvil has announced that its next record is set to arrive next month via Hall’s Wild Oats label. The Ignorant/In the Grind EP is a four-track record featuring its two title tracks sandwiched between an “Intro” and “Outro,” songs which are said to “venture into the world of the unknown, and the trapped.” FunkinEvil’s 12″ won’t appear until sometime during late July, but its lead cut can be previewed before then, below.
