Robot Koch & Sieren “Melville”**

Earlier this week, headphone designers Skullcandy released the third installment in its Supreme Sound series of limited-edition 12″s featuring a trio of songs from Robot Koch. The German producer’s contribution serves as the Berlin chapter of the series, after previous installments from Onra and then Deft and fLako represented their respective cities of Paris and London. Pulled from the series’ most recent 12″, this collaboration between Koch and fellow Berlin producer Sieren is a slick slice of Brainfeeder-esque beat music, one which pairs a driving bassline with the busy, lush production qualities that have characterized Koch’s work over the years. The two remaining featured on Koch’s Supreme Sound‘s 12″ can be streamed in full after the jump.

Video Premiere: Lovers’ Rights “Motivate”

Lovers’ Rights (a production trio which consists of Dam Mantle along with members of Silk Cut and Golden Teacher) issued its debut self-titled EP via Glasgow’s High Sheen label last month—a five-track effort full of rolling house cuts including “Motivate,” a tune which now has a gooey video to call its own. Snakes, synths, rose petals, near-nude women, and an immeasurable amount of gooey sludge all make an appearance in the somewhat enigmatic clip, which does not attempt to put any sort of tangible narrative to the skipping, full-bodied club tune. While the version of “Motivate” heard above is available now on the Lovers’ Rights EP, the “Late Night Edit” of the song was offered up as a free download on XLR8R back in April, and can still be grabbed by heading here.

Watch Brian Eno’s RBMA Lecture

Musician, producer, artist, author, lecturer—the list goes on—Brian Eno has certainly made his presence felt at this year’s Red Bull Music Academy. The man’s 77 Million Paintings installation has taken up a new home in Manhattan as part of RBMA, and Eno has given a number of talks in the process, one of which has made it onto the web and can now be watched in full. The 80-minute discussion covers a wide range of topics, beginning with a somewhat lofty examination of art as a form of human release and onto considering contemporary music and Eno’s recent collaborations with artists such as James Blake. As to be expected, the lecture proves to be interesting, entertaining, informative, and immensely thought-provoking. The full video can be watched here.

Orphan “Most of Missing”*Kaleidoscope*

Anonymous producer Orphan is the latest artist to deliver a cassette via the fledgling Kaleidoscope tape label, ran by equally mysterious producer patten. After the tape sold out in a reported 10 minutes—taking into consideration the fact that there were only six copies made, albeit all from seperate performances tracked live to cassette—patten’s imprint has decided to offer Orphan’s Retakes EP (artwork above) as a free download. “Most of Missing” is one of five cuts originally housed on the tape, its soft harp plucks and gorgeous assemblage of synths making it a particularly inviting preview for the rest of the effort. For those who wish to hear more of Orphan’s simple but immersive productions after giving “Most of Missing” a spin, the entire Retakes EP can be downloaded for free here.

The Organ Grinder Readies EP for 4lux; Preview It Now

When we picked out Cardiff tunesmith Cayne Ramos (a.k.a. The Organ Grinder) as an Artist to Watch during our Bubblin’ Up Week earlier this year, we didn’t neccesarily forsee how difficult it was going to be to keep up with the producer’s quiet moves. Fortunately, we’ve been tipped off to the fact that the man’s next release is on its way, with a new EP set to appear on Gerd’s 4lux imprint in the coming weeks. The four-track Dancing Angel EP will mark The Organ Grinder’s return to 4lux, who issued his solid Enoonami EP late last year. While the forthcoming Dancing Angel EP does not have an exact release date, its four soul-drenched efforts—one of which features fellow UK producer Chesus (of C.R.S.T.)—can be previewed here.

Check Out Four Tet’s Mix for Beats in Space

The incomparable UK DJ/producer Four Tet has been in New York this week, and just before he headlined last night’s excellent RBMA showcase with Jon Hopkins and Koreless at Webster Hall, the artist born Kieran Hebden dropped an excellent mix on Tim Sweeney’s Beats in Space radio show. The hour-plus mix finds Four Tet delivering lots of unreleased material, fresh jams, and a handful of older tracks (i.e. Prince). There’s a bit of banter with the host, as well, during which Hebden hints at a forthcoming album for his own Text imprint and says he might be “retired” from doing remixes. The broadcast can be streamed and downloaded via the player below, where most of the tracklist can also be found. (via FACT)

Dusky Preps EP for Naked Naked

London duo Dusky apparently likes to keep busy. With its Nobody Else EP dropping just over a month ago and the pair’s remix abilities constantly being called upon—not to mention dropping an impressive podcast for XLR8R back in February—Dusky have certainly had a hot hand lately. Keeping that momentum going, the outfit has announced the forthcoming Vanishing Point EP, set to appear on the Naked Naked imprint early next month. Dusky’s three-track contribution to the label will mark Naked Naked’s first release to not involve the talents of its founder, Ben Westbeech (a.k.a. Breach), who has contributed to records for his own label alongside Midland and Dark Sky. Nonetheless, the upcoming EP is said to find Dusky, “at [its] very best; carving out new rules in what it means to produce UK house and techno.” We’ll have to wait until the record drops on June 3 to find out exactly what that sounds like, but for now, the forthcoming EP’s artwork and tracklist are included below.

Groundislava Shares New Music, Readies Tour with oOoOO

One of the many SoCal beatmakers affiliated with the Friends of Friends label, Groundislava, who was all overXLR8R last year when he dropped his Feel Me album, has announced that he’ll soon be hitting the road with fellow West Coast producer oOoOO, sharing a bit of new music in the process. The new Treasure Chest EP arrives 11 tracks strong, with one never-before-heard original track called “Time Alone” pairing with a batch of 10 remixes for the likes of Shlohmo, Kanye West, Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, and Drake. Groundislava is offering the batch of tunes as a “name your price” download before his North American tour gets underway on May 16 in Austin, TX. Treasure Chest can be streamed in the player below, where the tour dates can also be perused.

S.E.F. “M-O-E (Lost & Found’s Rave Mix)”* Switched On*

London producer and man behind the fledgling Switched On label S.E.F. has gathered a collection of remixes for “M-O-E,” a percussive, strong-armed tune from his Autonomy EP, released in the fall of last year. One such remix comes from fellow London outfit Lost & Found, who funnel the strength of S.E.F.’s original into a deeper package filled out by sharp synths and an enticingly restless bassline. S.E.F.’s M-O-E Remixed EP drops on June 3 with additional remixes from MA1 and S.E.F. himself joining Lost & Found’s “Rave Mix.”
