To mark its release today, 100% Silk has offered a full stream of 2 Hot 2 Wait, the latest full-length from budding Detroit producer Coyote Clean Up. Across the LP’s seven tracks, the Midwest upstart displays a command over the more warm and inviting ends of hardware-born house, wrapping crunchy drum programming with endless layers of washy synths, repurposed samples, and hypnotic melodies—a talent Coyote Clean Up also displayed well on last year’s Magma Mondays album. The man’s latest effort for 100% Silk, 2 Hot 2 Wait, can be streamed in its entirety via the player below.
Planet Mu label boss and veteran electronic artist Mike Paradinas (a.k.a. µ-Ziq) has been gradually ramping his production presence back up in 2013, releasing a compilation of old material, a collaborative LP with his wife as Heterotic, and the first proper µ-Ziq release in years, the XTEP EP. As we should’ve guessed, this was all leading up to the announcement of Paradinas’ eighth LP. The 14-track Chewed Corners album will arrive almost six years after the last official µ-Ziq long-player, 2007’s Duntisbourne Abbots Soulmate Devastation Technique, on June 25. The producer says his new record is meant to “evoke drama and emotion,” with its influences ranging from one-time collaborator Aphex Twin, Orbital, and Art of Noise to more contemporary acts like Rustie, Planet Mu signee Kuedo, those of Chicago’s footwork scene. After first announcing his forthcoming Vertical XL EP for Fade to Mind back in March, Kingdom has already shared record’s luscious “Bank Head,” and now, he’s offered another taste of the forthcoming effort, posting a stream of slightly sinister EP track “Corpse” earlier today. The Vertical XL EP is still a few weeks away from seeing a proper release on May 28, but with “Bank Head” and now “Corpse,” Kingdom’s upcoming seven-track record is shaping up to be a rather diverse affair. “Corpse” can be streamed in full via the player below.
Following behind last year’s impressive debut full-length, Jummy, and March’s surpriseSaucepan Jams Vol. 1 CD, playfully mysterious UK producer Gerry Read has announced plans to drop a new 12″ via the Fourth Wave label early this summer. The “Crave” b/w “Enjoy a Day Out” single will hit stores June 2 with two tracks that are said to come with “more focus on the dancefloor” than much of Read’s catalog to date. Operating at the forefront of grime’s new class of DJ/producers, XLR8R podcast contributor Royal-T (a.k.a. Mark Taylor) is set to follow up last year’s solid Rinse Presents: Royal-T album with a four-track EP for the same label. I Know You Want Me is said to find its creator in “fine, rowdy form”—the snippet of its title track, which is embedded below, is certainly testament to that—and is scheduled to arrive on May 20 via Rinse.

Self-proclaimed “juke boy” and St. Petersburg-bred DJ/producer Raumskaya doesn’t keep his tracks tethered to any one idea for too long. Unlike most jukesmiths, who often keep their tunes fast and to the point, Raumskaya’s productions are more in line with his Russian counterparts such as Pixelord (who also happens to help head the Hyperboloid label), infusing tracks with dub and off-kilter house influences filtered through a juke trapdoor. “Keep Out,” taken from Raumskaya’s forthcoming Snapshot EP, makes quick work of skittering synths and machine gun-fired hi-hats that quiver low in the mix. Eventually the synths go from stabs to chords and a rolling bassline begins to joyride underneath the affiar. The Snapshot EP is due out soon via Hyperboloid, and will feature four original Raumskaya tunes along with a trio of remixes from Pixelord, Koloah, and Gillepsy.
It’s been three months since Modeselektor and Apparat first announced they would convene once again under their collaborative Moderat moniker, and even though we still have to wait until August 2 for the three DJ/producers to release II, we now have that album’s full details to share. Apparently, II will be available in four distinct forms: an eight-track LP, a deluxe double-LP featuring three extra songs, a “standard CD” with 11 tracks, and a deluxe CD with a bonus twelfth track and a 16-page booklet which features lyrics and “behind-the-scenes” studio pictures from the album’s recording sessions. Monkeytown is still slated to drop Moderat’s second full-length at the end of this summer, but before then, the tracklists and artwork—which was once again designed by Pfad?nderei—for II can be found below.

South American-born DJ/producer/vocalist Matias Aguayo has announced the details of his forthcoming third album, called The Visitor. On June 24, Aguayo’s latest LP will arrive nearly four years after his previous full-length, the excellent Ay Ay Ay, courtesy of the artist’s own Cómeme imprint. The 12 tracks featured on The Visitor are said to have been recorded within a five-year span in locations such as Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, France, and Germany, and also find Aguayo collaborating with the likes of Daniel Maloso, Deadbeat, Philipp Gorbachev, Ana Helder, and Alejandro Paz. “El Sucu Tucu” is the skittering, high-octane first leak to arrive from The Visitor, and can be heard below, where the artwork and tracklist for Aguayo’s upcoming album can also be found.

Bondax has been simmering below the surface for a while now, but there’s little question that last year’s “Baby I Got That” took the teenage duo to a new level of recognition. Granted, the song is an almost impossibly catchy piece of sun-kissed electronic pop, but it’s doubtful that anyone anticipated just how big of a single it would be. Now, nearly a year later, the UK outfit has only let loose a handful of additional tunes, yet it sits at the precipice of a full-fledged crossover—it’s no stretch to say that Bondax has become something of a minor phenomenon. At the same time, it also feels like Bondax remains something of a mystery; the group simply doesn’t have much of a track record. In fairness, the duo did just release the Gold EP and has said that a full-length will arrive later in the year, but we still wanted to know—and hear—more, which is why we invited the young Brits to put together an exclusive mix for the XLR8R podcast series. Listening to the mix, it seems that when the pair is operating in the DJ sphere, Bondax sounds a lot like, well, Bondax. As such, this nearly hour-long session includes a lot of upbeat melodies and hook-laden grooves. The duo has a clear affinity for funk- and soul-flavored pop, but also makes sure to include plenty of nods to the feelgood anthems of ’90s house and garage. It’s light, it’s carefree, and it’s unquestionably pop, but we’re guessing that’s entirely the point.

Yasuhiko Fukuzono is part of a very well-hidden side of the beat scene, oft-unexplored by more than the truly dedicated “heads.” Many Japanese beatmakers are veterans by the time word of their talent makes it out of their native homeland, and Fukuzono (a.k.a. aus, pictured above) is no exception. aus is the boss behind the consistently impressive flau label, as well as a highly prolific producer in his own right. His forthcoming LP, ReCollected, finds aus operating as archivist as well, collecting 15 of his personal favorite remix works, with some dating back to 2006. For his take on Nottingham-based Origamibiro‘s “Sedimental Value,” aus works from the inside out. Beginning with a swirling chord, the Japanese beatsmith gradually swaps one broken beat after another before adding sawing, melancholy notes that clumsily fall around each other. aus’ productions have a tendency to bend the rules of house and instrumental hip-hop in the same turn, and there’s no shortage of that here. What really sets this tune apart, though, is the fact that aus clears the entire track from the table midway through and completely starts over, shifting the tune from broken, nervous downtempo to an effort that is increasingly gorgeous.
