You may have seen the name of Copenhagen-based up-and-comer Rewolmer for the first time a few weeks back when we posted the track “One” from his free Error Perfect EP. If you’re anything like us, you were rather impressed with the young producer’s take on post-everything style beats, and now you should be prepared to be a little more impressed with this video of “One” being performed live. The piece features Rewolmer himself taking to the keys while the camera spins around inside of what we assume is the man’s studio. It’s good to see that, no matter where you are in the world, electronic music nerds still feel the need to fill their work spaces with piles of beat-up gear.
Lapalux “Gutter Glitter”

We’ve been patiently waiting for new material to surface from UK wunderkind Lapalux since he first hipped us to his plans back in our Bubblin’ Up feature this past August. Clearly, it was worth the wait, as “Gutter Glitter”—the first track to be unveiled from his just-announced EP for FlyLo’s Brainfeeder imprint—does not disappoint. Lapalux’s knack for folding countless layers and minute details into his productions seems as sharp as ever, and the song that results here is an intensely intricate, finely sculpted piece of moody electronics. Through the constantly shifting percussive pilings and warm, buzzing bass tones, some James Blake-esque vocal manipulations appear, gliding in a pleasantly bizarre pattern of entirely unhuman R&B. Needless to say, we’ll be glad to get our hands on the six other tracks that are slated to accompany “Gutter Glitter” on the When You’re Gone EP when it drops on February 7. (via Pitchfork)

Video: Goth-Trad “Air Breaker”
Taken from Goth-Trad‘s forthcoming album for Mala’s Deep Medi label, New Epoch, “Air Breaker” is a hard and heavy slice of inventive dubstep, which is paired with an equally flashy and twisted video here. The piece was directed by DBKN, and takes us through a world of junked televisions as we watch them chaotically spew out subliminal imagery. It reminds us a bit of Clockwork Orange in that respect, but without those obnoxious eye clamps, thankfully.
Stream the New Sei A EP for Turbo, Featuring a Martyn Remix

Dropping later this month, Flux is the latest record on its way from Tiga‘s Turbo imprint, which features two original productions from Glasgow’s Sei A and a remix of the title track by Martyn. The three-song record (the digital version includes a bonus track) will be released on January 23, but we’ve got a preview of the whole thing now. You can listen to the bass-driven, techno-infused tunes in the player below.
Yöt “Minigrip Walk”

Helsinki foursome Yöt (pronounced ee-ot) offers its take on the Scandanavian sounds of skweee with this dubby head-nodder taken from the group’s new mini-album, Bitch Bender. “Minigrip Walk” has the blaring bass bursts and sexy synth licks associated with skweee, but tones down the proceedings with a darker and calmer approach that draws heavily from dub and old-school dubstep. The six-song Bitch Bender was released on Tuesday through Raha & Tunteet, a label formed by members of Yöt, and is the band’s third record, following releases on skweee labels Harmönia and Losonofono. After the jump, you can stream the entire release, check out the tracklisting, and find out why we didn’t post the artwork above.

Raffertie Preps Second EP for Ninja Tune

While Raffertie‘s debut artist album is still a ways off, the UK producer and Super label head has announced the release of his second EP for Ninja Tune, Mass Appeal. The forthcoming effort is said to continue in the vein of his earlier Visual Acuity EP, presenting larger-than-life sonics arranged in a meticulous fashion. This time around though, the emphasis is more on subtle tweaks and the density of Raffertie’s soundscapes than the kind of hyper-energized productions which characterized his first Ninja Tune outing. You can stream clips of all four tunes which make up the Mass Appeal EP below and also take a gander at the forthcoming release’s artwork.

Giraffage “With You”

San Francisco producer Giraffage, who impressed us last year with his debut LP, Comfort, returns with another ebullient slice of electronic pop. “With You” is a track rooted in big, atmospheric pads and familiar, hip-hop-flavored 808 percussion. A female voice floats about the three-and-a-half-minute song, bringing balance to the production as it alternates between bass-driven surges and bass-less breakdowns. Giraffage’s latest output keeps him comfortably in line with other contemporary West Coast beatmakers crafting pleasantly ambient and sample-laden instrumentals, such as Shlohmo or Baths.
Marcel Dettmann Readies New Single

Following a jolt of output towards the tail end of last year with a single for 50 Weapons and the release of his long-anticipated mix CD, Conducted, techno auteur Marcel Dettmann has announced plans to release a new single, “Landscape,” later this month. Set to come out via the same imprint responsible for issuing Conducted, the Music Man label will serve as the home for this two-track endeavor, which comes backed with a remix from somewhat-anonymous newcomer Answer Code Request. Unfortunately, no audio has surfaced of either track yet, so it looks like we’ll have to wait until the 12″ officially drops on January 23 to find out exactly where Dettmann’s latest creations will take us.
DVA Shares Details of Debut Full-Length for Hyperdub

Longtime Rinse FM DJ and prolific pusher of UK riddims, Scratcha DVA, has announced the details of his forthcoming debut LP, which is slated for release in a few months’ time on a familiar home for his tunes, Hyperdub. Of course, DVA is essentially a veteran at this point, so the term “debut” may seem a bit of a misnomer, but Pretty Ugly will in fact serve as the London resident’s first endeavor into long-player territory and will find him stretching his talent for crafting bubbly, club-oriented, and UK funky-leaning tunes across 12 tracks. A glance at the tracklist shows that a majority of Pretty Ugly consists of collaborative efforts, featuring vocalists such as Fatima and Zaki Ibrahim, among others. For a slightly more concrete taste of what to expect when the album drops on March 20, you can check the artwork and tracklist below.
