Stream Andrew Abboushi’s Debut EP in Full

On January 20, Driftless Recordings will release Andrew Abboushi‘s debut EP, Nahko.

The EP follows Abboushi’s “The Darkest Market,” a track released on Driftless’ compilation Driftless Ambient 2 and is inspired by artists such as CFCF, Clem Leek, and Tim Hecker. Abboushi’s journey to the release of Nahko was a mostly self-taught arc that included explorations of the piano, jazz, blues, classical, guitar, and ultimately, synthesis. Sonically rich, Nahko is an absorbing and contemplative listen that is informed by detailed sound design, texture, and the arts, as Abboushi explains:

“I’ve always been drawn to the open-air, monolithic, harmonically stout qualities of the amorphous genre known as ambient. I take a sound-design approach to composition, deriving structure from texture while navigating around anything overtly stylistic. I strive to inform my work with an appreciation of other crafts, from literature to architecture. Musically, I have great respect for artists who are able to incorporate energetic elements from electronic, dance and world music into their ambient compositions, most notably CFCF (Mike Silver) from Montreal. I also have a soft spot for artists who are able to stick to thematic development and use texture as a tool to create alluring sonic environments. A great example of this would be Clem Leek from the UK. I’m also a big supporter of the entire Driftless Recordings roster. I’ve been able to work on both of their ambient compilations and I think we will see a lot of great music from this label in the years to come.”

Warp Announces Children Of Alice Album

Warp Records will release a new album from Children Of Alice.

Children Of Alice is a project by James Cargill and Roj Stevens, both of Broadcast fame, along with Ghost Box co-founder Julian House. The band’s name is a tribute to the late Trish Keenan (the frontwoman of Broadcast, who passed away in 2011), referencing her love for Alice in Wonderland.

The self-titled album, which is set for release next month, is made up of four tracks that were originally put out via a series of limited editions on Folklore Tapes. According to Warp, the release combines “a narrative of library rooted psychedelia with a strong soundtrack feel that perfectly fits and continues the lineage of the three members’ individual projects.”

Children Of Alice will be released on February 24. Pre-order it and check out snippets at Bleep.

Tracklisting:

01. The Harbinger Of Spring
02. Rite Of The Maypole – An Unruly Procession
03. Invocation Of A Midsummer Reverie
04. The Liminal Space

Khidja Up Next on Hivern Discs

John Talabot‘s Hivern Discs will release a new 12″ from Romanian duo Khidja.

Flore and Rusu first met in high school. Growing together through various musical phases, they ended up channeling their love for outlandish dance music into the Khidja project around 2010—and have since put together an impressive discography with two studio albums and numerous 12″s.

The Impossible Holiday EP, however, will be their debut on Hivern Discs and promises their “boldest productions to date.”The 12” also comes wrapped in a sleeve featuring an oil painting by the Romanian artist Serban Savu and design by Arnau Pi.

The Impossible Holiday EP is scheduled for February 10 release.

Massimiliano Pagliara Debuts on Ostgut Ton

The forthcoming Time And Again EP is described by the imprint as being “heavily influenced by classic Chicago house, electro and early disco music.” It follows on from other recent EPs with the likes of Uncanny Valley, Live at Robert Johnson and Correspondant.

Radio Slave Readies 12″ to Mark Rekids Anniversary

Radio Slave will release a double A-side to mark the one-hundredth release on Rekids.

Having recently celebrated 10 years, the consistency of music on Matt Edwards’ Rekids is indisputable with releases from Nina Kraviz, Mr. G, David Morales, Peggy Gou, and DJ Deep to name a few. Aside from his A&R abilities, Edwards’ understanding of electronic music is evident in his various pseudonyms. Amongst these Radio Slave is his most illustrious and most fitting for the seminal label’s milestone release.

“I had to make these tracks. It’s what we do and it’s the perfect release for Rekids 100” – Matt Edwards

TracklistIing:

A. Another Club
AA. Feel The Same

Another Club / Feel The Sam drops on Rekids on February 17, 2017.

Tin Man Announces Dripping Acid album

Johannes Auvinen (a.k.a Tin Man) has a new acid-focused LP on the way.

Dripping Acid is said to be Auvinen’s “most ambitious” project to date, comprised of six 12”s of new acid compositions. While the brittle machine-music of ‘80s Chicago is the blueprint of any acid track, Dripping Acid refrains from revivalism; instead, it “looks forward” as it “harnesses the 303’s psychedelic potential,” according to Global A, the label behind the release.

The album comes following a number of collaborations with artists such as Cassegrain, John Tejada and, most recently, Gunnar Haslam, with whom here released the Valere Aude collaborative album as Romans.

Tracklisting

A1 Flooding Acid
B1 Pooling Acid
B2 Dripping Acid
C1 Evaporated Acid
D1 Underwater Acid
D2 Sunken Acid
E1 Undertow Acid

Dripping Acid is scheduled for February 7 release via Global A.

Premiere: Hear a New Track from Fishing

Sydney duo Fishing will release their new EP, Pleasure Dome, on January 23.

Alongside the announcement is the release of the second single—the first single, “Yuwa,” can be heard here—and title track, “Pleasure Dome.” The EP will be the first extended Fishing release since their debut album, Shy Glow, in 2014 and finds the pair heading in a more dancefloor-focused direction. Pleasure Dome features four originals stacked full with Fishing’s colorful melodies, chunky drum-machine rhythms, and hazy synth patterns, alongside remixes from Sydney group Pelvis and Melbourne garage revivalist Christopher Port.

Ahead of the January 23 release, you can stream “Pleasure Dome” in full via the player below.
