Trentemøller Shares New Video

Trentemøller has today released “Complicated,” the third single taken from Fixion, his latest album.

Accompanying the release is a video by Åsa Riton and Andreas Emenius, the third part of a trilogy consisting of “River In Me,” “Redefine,” and “Complicated.”

The video depicts an apocalyptic story about the desperate search for a place where to start all over again. Shot in an abandoned sports arena a loose narrative unfolds of a man on a quest to re-connect with the physical world after loosing himself in a destructive relationship. A lonely world, involving tennis, palm trees, hands on fire, anonymous helpers and a constructed spine.

Tracklisting:

01. Complicated
02. Complicated (The Soft Moon Remix)

New Omar-S EP Due Out on FXHE

Omar-S has announced details of a new EP.

Four-tracker i696 is the latest new material to emerge from the Detroit artist’s studio. It follows on from a free EP that he dropped earlier this year, as well as full-length The Best. Judging by the audio clips, it is made up of acid and disco-infused house productions.

i696 is expected to drop in January 2017. Stream snippets and pre-order it at Redeye Records.

Tracklisting:

A1. Sink Holes
A2. Hell On Earth
B1. Hit It Bubba (I Want My Dadas Rekids)
B2. Party Marty (Synths By Rolands Boutique)

LTGL ‘Splatter’

Keen readers of XLR8R will recognize the name of Tangram Records. Earlier this year—March to be exact—the label passed over the title track of Up High Collective‘s brilliant Phonemica EP, a collection of cuts that garnered support from the likes of KCRW,Rinse FMAlix PerezThe Gaslamp Killer, Kutmah, House Shoes, Soulection’s Joe Kay, and more.

The latest release from the imprint will be an ambitious compilation with a beautiful centerfold artwork crafted by graphic artist Dzia. The compilation will feature six previously unreleased tracks by Up High Collective, Faisal, LTGL, LoneBlue x Halibab Matador (aka YellowStraps), Le Motel, and Sokoto. The tracks themselves are wild and psychedelic—beat-driven outings that hit hard in the chest and the head.

In support of the release, Tangram has offered up a cut from Belgian producer Ashley Morgan (a.k.a. LTGL) as today’s XLR8R download. The track in question, “Splatter,” is a beautifully warped, jazz-tinged cut that would fit perfectly in the record bags of the aforementioned artists.

You can download “Splatter” via WeTransfer below.

Watch a Video on Creative Rhythm Programing

In Point Blank‘s latest tutorial video, course developer and resident Ableton expert Freddy Frogs turns his attention to creative rhythm programming.

Frogs explores various techniques such as varying velocity, shifting the starting point of a pattern, multi-tap delay, and switching up time signatures. The techniques Frogs explains can add interest, drive, and a more human feel to your drums and, as is often the case with Ableton, they are easily implemented.

You can watch the video in full below, with more on Point Blank and its courses here.

Premiere: Hear a Sven Weisemann Remix of Idealist’s ‘Time Lapse’

A2 : Diego Krause “Liberation” (Cab Drivers Remix)

Leif Announces New 10″ EP

Leif has a new 10″ EP on the way.

Two-tracker July V / Shoulders Back is the first release on the Welshman’s new imprint, TIO-Series—a label specialising in 10″ records. It follows on from recent releases by the Freerotation resident with Galdoors and Idle Hands, plus his sophomore album with UntilMyHeartStops. The forthcoming release is described as being filled with “off-kilter rhythmic and melodic abstractions.”

July V / Shoulders Back will be released on January 2, 2017. Stream snippets below.

Weekly Selections: Prins Thomas in LA, Magda & Ryan Elliott at Prototype, Petre Inspirescu & Clovis at Cyclone

This Friday will kick off with a special 6 hour DJ set from the vanguard of ‘cosmic disco’ and recent XLR8R podcast contributor Prins Thomas. The highly regarded Norwegian selector has been locked in to celebrate the 4 year anniversary of Far Away, an underground event series that has quickly risen to the top ranks of LA promoters by hosting artists from the likes of Project Pablo, Floating Points, Four Tet, Avalon Emerson, and more. To sweeten the deal even more, Far Away organizers have announced that a portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Gray Area Art + Technology’s Fire Relief Fund for the victims of the Ghost Ship fire in Oakland. For details, click here.

On Saturday, Detroit techno will touch down at Lot 613 for a special Prototype/Making Shapes collaboration featuring the American DJ/producer Magda. The now Berlin-based artist and former member of Richie Hawtin’s M-nus crew will headline the party, but she’ll be joined by Ostgut Ton contributor and Berghain/Panorama Bar resident Ryan Elliott, making this an unmissable night of eclectic house and techno. Support will be provided by Kompakt member SONNS and Making Shapes’ own Jeniluv. For more information and tickets, head to the event’s Facebook page.

Also on Saturday night, Cyclone returns with yet another stellar booking for LA’s underground community, bringing Romanian minimal master and [a :rpia:r] mainstay Petre Inspirescu to a proper warehouse setting. Although he’ll play an extended set, Pedro (as he’s affectionately called) will be joined by Lessizmore’s Clovis, as well as Gegov of the Cyclone crew. Tickets to the event are still available via XLR8R–pick up yours here.
