Perspire ‘Not In Love’

Towards the end of October, Eternally InDEADed will release the debut album from New York producer Perspire. The album will arrive with a video and limited run 7″, with two preceding singles, “All For Love” and “Not In Love,” available now.

Perspire’s influences include Tangerine Dream, Larry Levan, and Helmut Newton; and they are all on full display on “Not In Love,” which winds its way through soundtrack-esque synths and nostalgic emotions across its seven-and-a-half minute run.

You can download “Not In Love” via the player below, with both singles available over at Perspire’s Bandcamp page—which is also where the album will drop on October 25.

Hear New Material from Flying Lotus Alter Ego Captain Murphy

Steve Ellison (a.k.a. Flying Lotus) has dropped a new single as Captain Murphy.

“Crowned” is the latest chapter in the Adult Swim Singles series. To date, Ellison has released one full-length as Captain Murphy, 2012’s Duality, as well as contributing to the Adult Swim series on two other occasions in the following years, before dropping “Crowned.”

Ellison also cited Captain Murphy as a contributor to the soundtrack of his own upcoming feature film, Kuso.

Spotify in Talks to Acquire SoundCloud

According to a report by the Financial TimesSpotify is in “advanced talks” to acquire rival music service SoundCloud.

Though spokespeople from both internet music services declined to comment on the matter, Spotify is reportedly closing in on the acquisition of SoundCloud. The news comes after a period during which the Berlin-based startup’s financial stability has been in question; back in July, it was reported that the company was looking for a $1 billion sale (with Twitter having only a few weeks earlier invested $70 million in it).

Spotify is the market leader in the online music streaming industry (with 40 million users), ahead of nearest rival Apple Music (which has roughly 17 million users). SoundCloud have also tried to break the paid market with the SoundCloud Go service, though it hasn’t attracted more than a few hundred thousand users.

Premiere: Hear a Haunting New Track from Tomás Urquieta

Following on from 2015’s Manuscript EP, Tomás Urquieta‘s latest release, La Muerte De Todo Lo Nuevo, will land back on Infinite Machine on September 30.

The EP consists of four original tracks and three remixes by PAN and Janus producer M.E.S.H., Ziúr, and Ausschuss. In true Infinite Machine style, the EP is a boundary-pushing release that sits in the nether regions somewhere between drone, bass music, IDM, and unnerving, experimental techno—a fitting collection for an EP named La Muerte De Todo Lo Nuevo, which translates as The Death Of All That Is New. The tracks on the EP feel alive, like morphing organisms that creep through Urquieta’s haunting world with a menacing strut.

Ahead of the release later this week, you can stream “Anatomía,” which plays out like a score to a David Lynch film, in full via the player above.

ANGLE vs Joao Ceser ‘Vortex’

Having had two tracks included on the first two compilations by Tiptop Audio Records, ANGLE will soon release Hold Your Breath EP on the Californian label. The EP includes two original tracks by ANGLE and two remixes by Luca Agnelli and Maxime Dangles.

To mark the release, the label has offered up an unreleased track as one of today’s free downloads. “Vortex” finds ANGLE collaborating with Joao Ceser, who contributed to the previous TTAR releases.

Watch a Video for a New Daedelus Remix

Back on August 26, Relapse Records released Between Waves, the sixth studio album by The Album Leaf.

The album arrives nearly twenty years into a career that has seen enigmatic frontman Jimmy LaValle present his work across a range of mediums, from film scoring to sound collage and electronic music. Between Waves is the first full-length from The Album Leaf in over six years and the first time the band has recorded and produced as a complete group—it was written with a greater emphasis on the group dynamic.

Following a stunning video for album cut “New Soul” will be the latest asset to land from the album, Daedelus‘ remix for “Back To The Start”—which also arrives with hypnotic visuals.

You can watch both videos in full below, with the album available at The Album Leaf’s Bandcamp.

Etienne of Arcarsenal Next on Bass Cadet Records

Solune (i.e.Etienne of Arcarsenal) will release a solo EP on Bass Cadet Records, the label offshoot of the Neukölln record store he co-founded and which recently celebrated its third birthday.

The four-tracker mixes multiple layers of influences circled between house, ambient, soundscapes, dub techno and tribal rhythms—and is streamable in full via the player below.

Tracklisting:

A1. Death Of The Delta Blues
A2. Magical Realism
B1. Thela In The New World (Equinox Mix)
B2. Versions Of Orpheus

In addition to this, Arcarsenal—the project Etienne runs alongside fellow Bass Cadet Records founder Alan Mathias—will release a new EP on Finest Hour on October 24.

schwarzmodul ‘subraze’ (Robot Koch remix)

LA-based artist schwarzmodul produces the kind of glitchy electronics most suited to the industrial decay of the city he has made home. It’s a bent form of techno, a soundtrack to “big city machinery and sonorities, dilapidated architecture, circuits, and ghostly faces.”

On the production front, schwarzmodul has collaborated with Robot Koch—he co-produced three tracks on Koch’s Tsuki EP, one of which also featured on Koch’s acclaimed Monkeytown LP Hypermoment—and is set to release his debut self-titled EP on October 21 via Track Number Records. Preceding the EP is “subraze,” an otherworldly track available as a download via schwarzmodul’s Bandcamp. The atmospheric cut drops with an equally warped video and a more dancefloor-focused remix from cohort Robot Koch—which is offered as today’s XLR8R download, available via WeTransfer below.

The video for “subraze” can be watched below.

Hear a Cut from Dom & Deykers’ Forthcoming Album

Steffi and Martyn have shared a cut from their upcoming album as Dom & Deykers.

“Faye’s Slide” is a first taste of the LP: a bouncy, vibrant slice of electro-infused tech-house, which offers a hint at what we might expect from the rest. It’s lifted from Evidence From A Good Source, the Dutch production pair’s first full-length together (following on from a couple of EPs on Martyn’s 3024 imprint). According to the label, the album was produced in only four days, during a trip to Steffi’s Berlin studio.

Evidence From A Good Source is scheduled for a late October release, on vinyl, CD and digital formats. Pre-order the 3xLP pack over at Juno.
