KiNK has released a free EP.
Strahil Velchev (a.k.a. KiNK) is the latest artist in a list that already includes the likes of Pépé Bradock, Tom Trago and Svengalisghost to take part in Red Bull Studios Paris free EP scheme. As per the other releases, Velchev’s EP was recorded during a week at the French studio, in which he “made a conscious decision to limit” himself, using only what he “could find in the studio to compose and record.”
On the recording, Velchev had this to say: “It was a very intense experience, the clock was ticking and I had to learn how to play instruments that were new to me. So in short I had to quickly bound out of my comfort zone, which did me a world of good. None of this would have been possible without Rachel Row, who sang and played a couple of piano chords, and the studio’s sound engineer Jérome Caron, who gave me quite a bit of help with the arrangements.”
KiNK: Red Bull Studios Paris is available to download now via the Red Bull site, where you can read the full interview with Velchev. Stream the EP below.

Eclectic Berlin-based imprint Correspondant is gearing up for its 50th release, a return to the label from experimental house duo Red Axes.
Since its launch in 2011 through Kompakt, Jennifer Cardini‘s brainchild has served as a central node for a slew of electronic music talent. Housing releases from Man Power, The Hacker, and Roman Flügel, among others, Cardini has made the Correspondant name synonymous with an uncompromising, inimitable level of quality. In retrospect of her undeniable label success, the French phenom has brought Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi back into the fold to release Caminho de Dreyfus. The EP is set to contain a reissue of the classic 2013 title track in addition to three previously unreleased cuts.
Caminho de Dreyfus is scheduled for a September 23 release.

03. Caminho De Dreyfus
04. Caminho De Dreyfus (Instrumental)

Collaboratively, LA DJ-producers Bystander and Give In fuse decades worth of techno and house experience into their original compositions. As Bystander, Sean Patrick is a veteran of the scene. Through sets alongside everyone from Richie Hawtin to The Orb under his belt in addition to over 20 years of studio experience, Patrick has become intimately familiar with innumerable permutations of four-on-the-floor music. George Cochrane’s Give In project—an aside from his work in Wild & Free—complements his partner’s seasoned production chops with a refreshing dose of melodic introspection.
On August 18, eclectic Los Angeles imprint Rock It Science Labs released Echo Beach West, a four track offering that sees the two looking deep into their past sound while employing a variety of new elements, including a vocal debut from Patrick. “Stay Down,” a dynamic, sultry EP cut, has been made available for today’s XLR8R download.

Today, Crosstown Rebels released “In The (Last) Moment” (feat. Georgia Lewis), the latest single from Audiofly.
“In The (Last) Moment” (feat. Georgia Lewis)finds the duo trading in deep and dubby broken beats, backed up with the vocal stylings of Georgia Lewis. The track has an inherent subtlety to it, which was a conscience decision in the production process, as the duo explain: “Sometimes it’s nice to not have to write the usual peak time bomb, with this one we followed our hearts and the vibe of young vocalist Georgia Lewis and what emerged was a sunrise moment.”
Backing up the single is a tripped-out remix from German producer Robag Wruhme and “Analog Devotion,” the digital extra. Both cuts follow in line with the single, focusing on deep and dubby grooves rather than hands-in-the-air drops.
The EP release follows a large world tour marking 10 years of Flying Circus, the duo’s renowned party brand cum label—a recording from the LA showcase can be heard here.
You can pick the single up today here, with Robag’s remix streaming in full below.

One year after Chaos in the CBD‘s standout breakthrough EP, Midnight in Peckham, the South London duo will return to Rhythm Section with Invisible Spectrum.
Across the three tracks, Invisible Spectrum clearly presents a maturation in Chaos in the CBD’s sound, and like the previous release, the tracks on the EP are subtly evolving, jazzy house cuts for the heads. There’s effortless grace to the tracks on the EP, making them another perfect fit for a label that oozes effortless style.
You can pick up Invisible Spectrum on September 9, with “Observe Pt.2” streaming in full below.

In a new two-part series, Point Blank and F9 Audio founder and Freemasons member James Wiltshire explore the origins of house music—explaining both who and what went into creating those early records and how the scene and studios grew with the sound—and one of the most important instruments used in the era, Roland’s TR-909. Wiltshire then moves on to creating a classic house track in Ableton live using samples from the 909.
You can watch part one of the series in the video above and part two below.

As both Portable and Bodycode, Alan Abrahams’ work over recent years evidences a knack for crafting emotionally resonant and, more often than not, danceable releases. Even at its most downtempo and ethereal, his music has rhythmic sensibilities that will move most bodies and minds as well. His singular sound is personal soul music rooted in house and techno, and over the years his releases have found their way on to more than a handful of labels that share his idiosyncratic ethos—most notably Perlon, Spectral Sound, and Live At Robert Johnson.
Abrahams’ latest album lands under his Portable moniker and is his most personal piece of work to date. Taking his birth name, Alan Abrahams was reportedly recorded over the last two years following an emotional breakup and the formation of a new relationship; and because of this personally testing time, bittersweet melancholia is painted all over the LP. From poignant opener, “Your Warrior” to the last few bars of glitchy closer, “Standby,” Abrahams rarely lets go of the heartstrings, which is no surprise given that he has built his career on emotionally-driven, slightly-somber electronics.
Like most of his releases as Portable, Abrahams places his vocals front and center—and, despite a pensive mood throughout, he still manages to produce some magical dancefloor-focused moments. “Say It’s Gonna Change” is a tripped-out break-up song for club kids, while breaks-led “More Than” satisfies those looking for Abrahams’ insatiable grooves.
Towards the end of the record, as Abrahams conveys a change to positive thinking—presumably, based on the track title “The Year My Dreams Came True”—he does away with vocals altogether and lets his synth work shine through, resulting in perhaps the album’s standout track. That cut, the hallucinogenic mid-way outing “The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Drinker,” and the peculiar “Seraphin” show that Abrahams is just as adept at conjuring emotion from his machines as he is his voice—although it does leave more room for interpretation from the listener.
Somewhere within each cut is a sentiment connected with the hurt and loss of a breakup. But this, as it turns out, is both a blessing and a curse for the LP because it limits the time and places where you can listen to it. Indeed, if there is one clear fault it’s that the album does begin to weigh down on you. All in all, it’s a release carved from a piece of Abrahams, like a sonic snapshot of this period of his life. Although painful, it’s one that has resulted in a body of work full of melancholic beauty.
