Lowtec Reveals New EP

Jens Kuhn (a.k.a. Lowtec) is behind the debut release from Blundar, a new label operating out of Sweden.

Kuhn is known for his varied approach to house production and beyond, as well as for the labels which we sits at the head of—Out To Lunch (which re-launched last year, following a decade of inactivity) and Workshop, which he runs alongside Even Tuell. His next release is an untitled four-tracker, and is his first new material since last year’s Man On Wire, which was released via Absurd sub-label Avenue 66. The EP is the inaugural release on Blundar, a new label from Sweden about which little is known so far.

Premiere: Hear a Track from Jilk’s Latest EP on Project: Mooncircle

Today, Bristol-based electro-acoustic band Jilk will release its latest EP, In Need Of Tess.

The beautifully composed six-track EP will land on Berlin label Project: Mooncircle, presenting a collection of emotionally resonate soundscapes and trippy dancefloor outings. Like with Jilk’s previous releases, which have landed on labels such as Bit Phalanx and How Does It Feel To Be Loved?, the tracks on In Need Of Tess are filled with textured found sounds, gorgeously decaying synths, and poignant vocals. A notable addition to the EP is “Nim” and “Nim” (Sit Down Outro), an orchestral two-part piece developed from a soundtrack Jilk produced for Nim Jethwa’s short film ‘A Little Bristol Film.’

Metroplex Launches Reissue Campaign

Juan Atkins has revealed that Detroit-based Metroplex will reissue several of their early records, with a series beginning next month.

Metroplex, launched in 1985 by Atkins, is one of the original techno labels to come out of Detroit. This year, its boss is coordinating a reissue campaign, beginning with a host of his Model 500 alias EPs—Night Drive (Thru-Babylon), Sound Of Stereo / Off To Battle and The Chase.

Atkins also revealed that the campaign will not stop there, but include material from his Infiniti alias, as well as the highly sought-afterSpectral Nomad EP by The Vision (a.k.a. Robert Hood). On top of this, Green Velvet and Luciano will jump on board for a remix package of the label’s first single, “No UFO’s.”

Sean Moriguchi “Get Up”

Hailing from the UK, DJ and producer Sean Moriguchi is a Brighton-based artist with a classical background and a love for pirate radio. Getting his start at Deep Recording Studios in London as an intern at the age of seventeen, Moriguchi has honed his DJ and production skills to a point of gaining a substantial amount of recognition and respect in the Brighton music scene. Making his debut on Love Handles Records back in 2014, the artist recently dropped a mix titled “Origins Mixtape” on Australian label Future Classic and released his sophomore EP, Get Up, via Outta Limits Recordings.

Moriguchi has graciously offered up the title track to this most recent release as today’s XLR8R download. Using dark and glossy soundscapes that drift alongside his signature echoing vocal samples, the tracks continuous hobbling bassline results in a repetitive groove that is bound to make an indent on the dancefloor.

Watch Anchorsong Perform His Latest Single Live

Anchorsong has just revealed details of a new digital single titled “Expo” that is set to drop on April 29 via the Brighton-based music label Tru Thoughts.

Currently living in London, Anchorsong recently released his warm, rhythmic, and uplifting sophomore LP, Ceremonial, an eleven-track album which is heavily influenced by music that came out of Africa in the seventies, as well as the album Vodoun Effect by Orchestre Poly-Rythmo—which Anchorsong found at his local record shop. Coinciding with his upcoming performances at Low End Theory and Further Future Festival, Anchorsong is set to release “Expo,” the second track from his LP, as a digital single alongside three bonus cuts.

Thomas Melchior and Charles Webster Remix Apollonia

Apollonia—who we recently interviewed—released its debut LP, Tour à Tour, back in 2014 on the French trio’s self-titled label. Now, Tour à Tour will receive the remix treatment from a cast of house heavy hitters including Thomas Melchior, Mike Shannon, Edward, Hold Youth, and Charles Webster, among others.

Tour à Tour The Remixes will arrive as three successive EPs, with the first—featuring Melchior and Webster— dropping on March 18 and two and three on April 1 and April 29, respectively. Carefully curated by the trio, the remixers all have a personal connection to Apollonia and its music, which gives the collection a cohesive, family-like feel.

Dos Attack “Flue”

Launched in 2014, Riverette Music is a Spanish music label run by Carlos and Andres, two lifelong friends who created the imprint with the lifelong mission of serving up good, quality music. While still a fresh label, Riverette has put out music from the likes of Oskar Offermann, Space Garcia, Legowelt, and more. Just last week, both Carlos and Andres released their debut track on their imprint under the moniker DOS Attack. Sharing a split EP with one of electronic music’s most respected figures, Legowelt, DOS Attack’s debut has already seen a great deal of support from artists such as Kornel Kovacs, Axel Boman, Pional, Danny Daze, Roman Flugel and more.

DOS Attack and Riverette Music are gradually proving that they posses an attitude and sonic understanding that can greatly benefit music communities around the world, and we are grateful that they have chosen to share their debut track “Flue” as one of today’s XLR8R downloads. This slow, arpeggiated jam flutters along with bare and lackadaisical drum patterns for two minutes before introducing a facile bassline that gives the track considerable movement, until gradually fading into a distant cosmic backdrop.

Nisennenmondai Shares Details of Next Album

Japanese experimental trio Nisennenmondai have announced the details of their next album, to be released at the beginning of April.

Nisennenmondai are Masako Takada, Sayaka Himeno and Yuri Zaikawa, a trio of experimental artists who formed in 1999, and have since released on Bijin Record, Smalltown Supersound, Comfortable On A Tightrope, and more. For their latest effort, they have teamed up with Adrian Sherwood, the UK producer who has worked with the likes of Primal Scream and Depeche Mode.

#N/A will be released via Sherwood’s On-U Sound label, and is a continuation of Nisennenmondai’s shift away from the noisy no wave music from their early days, into the realm of organic techno. The label have described it as the “cult Japanese trio filtering their epic motorik jams through the mixing desk of the legendary dub producer.”

Clan Destine Records Announce Orphan Swords EP

Clan Destine Records–the Glaswegian hub for modern industrial–is set to return with Orphan Swords and their new Weehawken EP, a link first established in 2015 with the inclusion of their track “Astaroth” on the label’s Dark Acid V compilation.

Weehawken EP is scheduled for May 2016 release.

Last year, Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons released the ambitious Message from the Other Side on Crosstown Rebels, and an equally ambitious remix package featuring 12 different electronic-music acts has just been announced. The upcoming LP features contributions from the likes of Acid Pauli, Kompakt regular Kölsch, and a tag team of Juan Atkins and Kimyon Huggins, plus Dixon, Jamie Jones, Francesca Lombardo, and DrumTalk, among others.
