Vessel has unveiled a brutally intimate new video for “Red Sex,” the lead single off his latest album, Punish, Honey. In an interview with Dazed that accompanies the video premiere, the Bristol-based producer born Sebastian Gainsborough says he and director Harry Wright wanted the visuals to match the “anxious, uncomfortable sexuality” that infuses the track itself. Inspired by home movie aesthetics and seedy, amateur porn films, Wright adds that the video plays with discomfort, taboo, and the intersection of beauty, humor, and the grotesque. “We wanted to highlight ideas to do with sex that don’t often get addressed in mainstream media,” he explains. “Feelings of frustration, awkwardness, nervousness, and how it can all end up being funny yet disturbing in equal measure.”

Shot under the fluorescent lights of a police cell, the video features two men (with apparent home appliance fetishes) and can be watched in full here.

Glaswegian label Numbers has delivered a second EP from Unspecified Enemies, the duo of CiM and Louis Digital active since the late ’90s. Out today, the cynical (if aptly) titled Everything You Did Has Already Been Done arrives as the follow-up to Multi Ordinal Tracking Unit, which was originally released in 1999 on the pair’s Counterattack label and reissued by Numbers in 2012. According to a press release, two tracks on this latest outing—”Ms.45″ and “Chip Mode”—were exhumed from a Counterattack Live cassette sent to Martin McKay of Rubadub in ’99, and the release comes accompanied by a manifesto that reads “Our Microphysical War Will Be Waged on the Dancefloor.”

Everything You Did Has Already Been Done drops today in Europe and tomorrow in the US, and can be heard in its entirety below.

Claude Speeed has revealed details of a debut EP for Planet Mu. The rising Scottish musician-turned-producer (who we profiled not long ago as part of our Bubblin’ Up series) debuted earlier this year with the My Skeleton LP on LuckyMe, and will deliver this latest effort—entitled Sun Czar Temple—early in the new year. According to a press release, it was his 2012 remix of Kuedo’s “Work Live & Sleep in Collapsing Space” that initially caused Planet Mu to sit up and take notice. The label describes the resulting EP as “an epic set of songs that distort emotional songwriting with textured synthetic ambience and computer noise. Dreams on hard disk.”

Sun Czar Temple is officially due out on January 26; clips can be previewed here courtesy of Planet Mu, and a teaser video has been posted below, along with the EP’s complete tracklist.

1. This week’s XLR8R podcast—which happens to be the series’ final installment of 2014—comes from Detroit techno legend Robert Hood (pictured above), who recorded a mix under his house- and disco-oriented Floorplan alias. This kicked off a busy week for Hood fans, as his recent RBMA lecture and a new remix premiered online in the days that followed.

2. A video of late footwork pioneer DJ Rashad surfaced online, in which the much-missed Chicago producer attempts to construct a track in just 10 minutes. The footage was shot while making Im Tryna Tell Ya, a full-length footwork documentary that also debuted this week.

3. A stream of an unexpected collaborative track from Nicolas Jaar and Chicago ghetto house veteran DJ Slugo surfaced this week.

4. Ahead of the legendary club’s forthcoming 10th anniversary, Ben Klock elected to present his top 10 Berghain tracks of all time.

5. Australian producer Dro Carey turned in a particularly personal edition of our Real Talk essay series, addressing his own struggles with mental illness and discussing how he dealt with them in the context of being an up-and-coming artist.

6. We kicked off our annual Best of 2014 coverage by counting down the top 100 tracks from our Downloads section.

7. Interestingly enough, the week began with another countdown, the top 20 tracks that appeared in our Downloads section during the month of November.

Burgeoning Belgian producer Innershades will supply the first effort for the brand-new 9300 imprint. A label launched by a group of “music enthusiasts…who have brought underground house and techno vibes to the dancefloor” in their hometown of Aalst, Belgium for the past two years under the name Spektrum, 9300 will officially launch in January with the release of Innershades’ What About Us EP. Featuring three original productions from the Belgian talent, as well as a remix of the title track from recent XLR8R podcast contributor Willie Burns, the record will be available as 300 hand-stamped vinyl records early next month. Furthermore, the upcoming EP follows behind what has been a somewhat busy year for Innershades, seeing the rising talent issue records via Crème Organization, Pinkman, and Roze Balletten (an imprint for which he serves as a co-founder).

Ahead of its release in January, the forthcoming What About Us EP can be streamed in full below, where an additional video for Willie Burns’ remix can also be found.

A regular contributor to the label arm of Rinse FM, UK producer xxxy (who currently resides in Berlin) will issue the three-track 18 Hours EP via the imprint later this month. Described as the “latest missive of stargazing, spaced-out house” from the producer born Rupert Taylor, the forthcoming effort is also said to find xxxy working with a bit harder edge while still making use of his “long-running personality traits… a devilish ear for space and melody, which bubbles through even [the EP’s] starkest moments.”

Following behind his “Never Enough” single for RInse and an outing for Doc Daneeka’s Ten Thousand Yen imprint earlier this year, xxxy’s final release of 2014 will land on December 15. Before then, 18 Hours‘ artwork and complete tracklist have been included below, where a full stream of the record’s title track can also be found.

Two of Loefah‘s so-called “lost dubs” are due to see an official release via Berceuse Heroique next week. The South London DJ/producer and Swamp81 label chief has long been considered both a pioneer of dubstep and a major player in its evolution, but for whatever reason, two of his most covetable singles—”Midnight” and “Woman”—never saw an official release. (As FACT reports, Loefah claimed to have lost the .wav file for the widely popular “Midnight” track, and rumor had it that only two acetate versions existed.) Now, five years down the line, “Midnight” b/w “Woman” will be made available as a limited-edition vinyl run of 300 copies, with artwork and a poster by Trilogy Tapes’ Will Bankhead. The single will become available via Honest Jon’s and Idle Hands on December 10, and an unofficial version of “Midnight” can be streamed below.

London’s Local Action label will close out 2014 with a new EP from Lil Jabba. The Brooklyn-based footwork contortionist delivered his debut album Scales through the label last year, and more recently saw a 12″ released on True Panther. His forthcoming 47 EP is said to remain dedicated to footwork’s principles while drawing “Atlanta hip-hop, grime, and more into his weird world.” Before the record drops on December 15, EP cut “Silencer”—a skittering beat workout with orchestral flourishes that premiered via Boiler Room Debuts—can be streamed in full below, where we’ve also posted a complete tracklist.

Lucretio and Marieu of The Analogue Cops will return to Out-Er for their first release of 2015. Ever the hardware enthusiasts, the Italian-born, Berlin-based duo turns out four straight-to-tape, “crispy house” cuts on Desk Jockeys. The EP follows from the pair’s Hot Brass Dance 12″ for Hypercolour, which dropped earlier this year, and will feature collaborations with Great Injuries and Stanley A when it sees an official release on January 22. Until then, the EP’s artwork and tracklist can be viewed below.
