DJ/producers have been swelling XL‘s ranks recently—Sophie and grime duo Mumdance and Novelist are some of the label’s newest recruits—and today brought confirmation that Powell will drop a single via the UK outpost. Known for his dark, experimental electronics, the London-based producer’s efforts have been released via his own Diagonal label (which has also put forward material from Russell Haswell, Prostitutes, and Bronze Teeth these past few months) and Liberation Technologies. While few details have been shared in regard to his forthcoming “Sylvester Stallone” b/w “Smut 12”, Resident Advisor reports that both tracks on the record were featured on Powell’s recent guest mix for BleeD on RinseFM, and clips can be heard here courtesy of Rush Hour.

A Brooklyn resident who is said to have spent his formidable artistic years in San Francisco, seasoned sound sculptor Jefre Cantu–Ledesma will debut on the Mexican Summer label early next year with the A Year with 13 Moons LP. The forthcoming album’s 16 tracks are said to have been culled from hours of recordings Cantu–Ledesman made while an artist-in-residence at Headlands Center for the Arts, an artistic center located on the foggy shores of Marin County, directly across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. “The time at the Headlands was a real gift—of space, time and being cared for,” the artist explains in a press release. “This allowed me to create music in a way I never had before… I learned how to let the music create itself in a way, to lead me rather than trying to force it down a path”

Said to consist almost entirely of live takes, the record makes use of “electric guitar, modular synthesizer, drum machine, and concrète sounds from the artist’s surroundings at the Headlands” across its 16 hazy compositions. Officially out via Mexican Summer on February 9 of next year, A Year with 13 Moons‘s lead track, “The Last Time I Saw Your Face,” can be streamed below, where the forthcoming record’s artwork and full tracklist have also been included.

Former Oakland resident and current NYC transplant Afrikan Sciences (a.k.a. Eric Douglas Porter) will land for the first time on Bill Kouligas’ PAN outpost next week with Circuitous, a 14-track LP which is now available to stream in full ahead of its release. Following behind last year’s lauded Theta Brain Wave Sync LP and a Miles Davis-inspired collaborative album alongside Aybee, Afrikan Sciences’ new record sees the Deepblak co-founder continuing to freely build his signature jazz-tinged electronic compositions, flushed with off-kilter polyrhythms and complex melodic structures.

Officially out on December 8 via PAN, Afrikan Sciences’ forthcoming Circuitous LP can currently be streamed in full here, via Dazed Digital.

Captured back in October during the 2014 edition of Poland’s annual Unsound festival, longstanding Finnish producer Sasu Ripatti (a.k.a. Vladislav Delay) has shared a full recording of his hour-long, footwork-indebted live set from the event. Ripatti, who we recently tapped to preside over an installment of Ask the Experts, spends the majority of the performance chopping together chord stabs and manipulated vocals over breakneck hats and a snappy array of kicks and snares, with a number of left turns into dense sonic atmospheres heard throughout. With new lectures from the Red Bull Music Academy‘s recent Tokyo sessions continuing to appear online, the latest conversation to surface finds pioneering Detroit techno producer Robert Hood—who happened to deliver the final XLR8R podcast of 2014 yesterday under his Floorplan alias—sitting down on the RBMA couch for a lengthy discussion. Spanning over 90 minutes, Hood’s lecture begins by focusing on his early days in music (combining hip-hop and electronic music as Robert Noise), before going on to discuss his role in the Underground Resistance collective, his musical evolution, and just about everything else one would want to know about the legendary producer’s career. Jam City has unleashed a second track from his forthcoming album on Night Slugs. Appearing today via SoundCloud, “Crisis” shows the UK producer born Jack Latham hybridizing ’80s production styles with grime and future R&B, and features skeletal rhythms punctuated by orchestral string stabs. News of the album first arrived in October along with a stream of lead single “Unhappy,” and while further details of the LP—including its official title and 2015 release date—have yet to surface, “Crisis” can be streamed in full below.

Last month, Dutch synth specialist Legowelt and Brookyln DJ/producer Willie Burns launched Relics of the Past, an online, DIY TV show starring, written, and soundtracked by the two artists. In between smoking weed, skateboarding, and playing with synthesizers, the debut episode involved exorcising evil spirits from an ancient relic, and today, the series’ second installment has turned up on YouTube. In “Space Weed,” the two artists find themselves in outer space after a ritual gone awry. A floating robot then informs them they’ve traveled through an interdimensional wormhole before proposing they sell space weed back on planet earth, and a delirious jam session ensues.

In addition to adding the unmistakable Ghostly logo to the outside of each cup, this latest model includes a handful of new features, such as a custom driver/cup pairing and woven black cable (further details here).

In conjunction with the release, the label is giving away a small compilation, for which Vatican Shadow, Monty Luke, and Moors were enlisted to remix tracks from Recondite, Shigeto, and Lusine.
