Queens-based producer Gut Nose has shared a “visual mixtape” to accompany the first half of his Filthy City LP, the recent Bubblin’ Up artist’s debut full-length which landed via the Styles Upon Styles label last month. “The video for Filthy City follows an imagined narrative of New York City as an abandoned, haunted wasteland,” Preston Spurlock—the visual artist behind the clip—explains. “Though traces of life still remain in the margins, hiding from the specters and wraiths that have since overrun the city’s windswept streets,” he continues, “humanity has all but vanished. What’s left of life appears warped and mutated from years underground amid the darkness and the toxic runoff.”

Sourcing footage from “a variety of different media, including flash animation, illustrations, stop-motion, home videos, super 8, 16mm, VHS, scratch-on-film, video synthesizer, and kinescopes,” the video collage proves a fitting accompaniment to the grainy textures and freeform electronics which fuel much of Gut Nose’s album. Spanning 17 minutes, the “Visual Mixtape” for Filthy City can be watched in its entirety below.

Anthony Parasole has revealed details of his debut EP for Berlin techno institution Ostgut Ton. Given that Parasole signed to the Ostgut booking agency not long ago (joining the ranks of Berghain residents such as Marcel Dettmann and Function), news of an upcoming release on the label is hardly unprecedented. Parasole seems to be holding true to his tough, sample-driven NY sound on the upcoming My Block EP—two out of three tracks on the record adopt the same percussive, tribal-influenced style of techno Parasole tested out on Quickstrike (an effort released via Parasole’s own The Corner imprint last year), while the record’s b-side offering nods to the ’90s hip-hop and cut-up techniques that inspired Parasole early on. (In a press release, he talks about a desire to make Wu-Tang member RZA’s use of sixteenth notes work in techno.)

Parasole’s My Block EP is slated for an official release on November 10; in the meantime, the forthcoming effort’s artwork and tracklist can be found below.

A track which first appeared earlier this year on his Reality Testing LP for R&S, Lone‘s (pictured above) “Restless City” production has received a remix treatment from Head High, the rave-leaning guise of René Pawlowitz (a.k.a. Shed). Pawlowitz’s remix is slated to appear on the flipside of a forthcoming 12″ for “Restless City,” and finds the Berlin-based producer burying the original tune’s choppy piano chords beneath a series of rugged rhythms. Before the “Restless City” 12″ lands on October 20 via R&S, the Head High rework of the track can be streamed in full below.

Chicago footwork crew Teklife has shared details of a forthcoming compilation of new material dedicated to the late DJ Rashad (pictured above), who passed away earlier this year. Entitled Next Life, the album will reportedly come “packed to the limit with hyper-kinetic rhythms and manically chopped samples,” showcasing “rhythmic ingenuity and hypnotic vocal science.” Comprising 20 tracks, the compilation finds the work of footwork originators such as RP Boo, Traxman, DJ Spinn, and DJ Rashad himself jutting up against the output from leading members of Teklife’s so-called “second wave,” such as DJ Earl, Taso, Boylan, and others. Extended Teklife crewmembers from outside the city, who were apparently “welcomed in by DJ Rashad & DJ Spinn while on their extensive travels spreading the footwork gospel,” also make appearances. The full Next Life tracklist is on view below, along with fresh October tour dates for DJ Earl and DJ Spinn.

Described as “a fitting tribute from his musical family to a true hero of electronic music who will be sorely missed for years to come,” Next Life is slated for an official release on November 11 via Hyperdub, the label which oversaw the release of Rashad’s last album, Double Cup. All profits from the sale of the CD will be given to DJ Rashad’s son, Chad.

Mumdance (pictured above) and Logos have announced plans to launch a collaborative label—Different Circles—and shared details of its first release. Both affiliates of London’s instrumental grime party Boxed, the pair has also turned out a clutch of jungle-laced collaborative 12″s in recent years, including the Genesis EP, which arrived at the tail end of 2013. As FACT reports, their forthcoming label venture trades in what they term “Weightless” sound, with its inaugural issue, Weightless Vol. I, to feature contributions from Inkke, Dark0, Murlo, Rabit, Strict Face, and the two founders themselves. The compilation arrives on limited-edition vinyl on November 17, and clips for all seven tracks (listed below) have been made available to stream in the meantime. Saga has shared details of Flight Risk, his sophomore EP set for release via Lit City Trax. Described as both a testament and reaction to UK grime, the six-track effort comes a year after his debut EP was issued through Visionist’s Lost Codes imprint, and finds the London-based Irish beatmaker pairing scattered, gunshot percussion with gnarly, saw-wave basslines. Before Flight Risk arrives in digital and CD formats on October 21, hyperactive EP cut “Whistle Grip” has been made available to stream below, where we’ve also posted a full tracklist.

LA beat shaman Ras G has dropped the latest installment in his ongoing Raw Fruit beat tape series. Originally released over the weekend in cassette form (to coincide with Cassette Store Day), Raw Fruit Vol. 3 sees the producer continuing to gather various beats and sketches made on his MPC, SP 303, and SP 404—the record’s tracklist detailing which production station was used on each cut. Though the cassette edition of the tape appears to be sold out, the 17-track effort is now available to cop digitally via Leaving/Stones Throw. In addition, Leaving has shared a stream of Raw Fruit Vol. 3 cut “Walk With Me,” a woozy, jazz-flecked track which features Khaill Sadiq on MC duties and can be heard in full below, where we’ve also included the tracklist for Ras G’s latest outing.

The second single from Michael, the forthcoming debut LP from Les Sins (a.k.a. Toro y Moi), has surfaced. Featuring vocalist Nate Salman, “Why” is a slick piece of disco-indebted production, one which fits layers of hand percussion, a restless bassline, and a bevy of miniature guitar licks between its glowing chords and soulful crooning. The new track follows the video for “Bother,” Michael‘s first single which was shared earlier this month along with news that the artist born Chaz Bundick would be touring around North America as Les Sins beginning in late October.

With the release of Les Sins’ debut LP via Bundick’s newly launched Company label still over a month out (the record officially lands on November 4), “Why” can be streamed in full below.
