1. Coinciding with the release of his new Fabric mix CD, Berlin techno stalwart Marcel Dettmann (pictured above) stepped up for the latest edition of Artist Tips, in which he shared five keys to being a good DJ.

2. The legendary Aphex Twin revealed the first details of his forthcoming new album, Syro, on Monday via the deep web. A few days later, Warp confirmed the tracklist and all of the specifics surrounding the LP, including the release date.

3. London producer Ikonika has a new EP on the way, and in advance of its release, she detailed the five most essential pieces of her studio set-up.

4. SoundCloud announced that it would be adding advertising, royalty collection, and subscription services to its popular streaming platform.

5. This week’s XLR8R podcast is an eclectic session put together by Future Times co-founder Maxmillion Dunbar.

6. A video of Todd Terje’s ambitious headlining live set from the recent Øya Festival in Norway was posted online.

7. Scottish DJ Jackmaster volunteered for the latest edition of 20 Questions, and wound up talking about fast food, his history with Rubadub, and how he copes with the non-stop party loop.

8. Xosar will soon be releasing a new EP via Luke Wyatt’s growing Valcrond Video imprint.

9. UK duo Dusky shared a stream of a new track from a forthcoming new mix CD from the Anjunadeep label.

Burgeoning Berlin-by-way-of-San Francisco DJ/producer Avalon Emerson has shared a collection of remixes, special edits, and original tracks for free download. So far, 2014 has proven a busy year for Emerson, who issued her Pressure/Quoi 12″ via Icee Hot (a label which is co-run by XLR8R editor Shawn Reynaldo) in January, and later inaugurated the Spring Theory imprint with her tipped Church of SoMa EP.

Containing 13 tracks, Emerson’s newly shared free collection covers bootleg edits of Actress, Dusty Springfield, and Blue Hawaii, alongside a handful of remixes, and a number of the budding producer’s earlier tracks. The full collection can be downloaded in MP3 and WAV format here; its artwork and full tracklist have been included below.

Last week, Anthony Naples’ Proibito label detailed plans to issue a 12″ compilation later this month, sharing a stream of Hank Jackson‘s contribution to the effort in the process. Now, the record’s leading cut, from Stateside producer Alex Falk, is also available to hear in full ahead of PRB-007‘s upcoming release.

A producer who has maintained a low profile while releasing tunes via Tennessee’s Proper Trax label and Atlanta’s CGI imprint, Falk most recently appeared with a selection on Ryan Elliot’s Panorama Bar 06 mix. On “Mitsuda,” his contribution to the forthcoming Proibito 12″, Falk slowly brings a set of swirling samples and airy melodies forward from the track’s bass-heavy, static-lined rhythms. Streaming below, Falk’s new production will be joined by others from Jackson Lee, Independence Ave. Orchestra, and Hank Jackson when the PRB-007 12″ drops on August 25.

Having turned in newrecords for Doc Daneeka’s Ten Thousand Yen imprint and Rinse earlier this year, London producer xxxy has elected to simply give his latest effort, “Clocks,” away as a free download. Described on his SoundCloud as a “squashed emo jam,” the concise composition presents an array of sparkling synth chords and bubbling arpeggios, which shift in and out of focus an analog bassline holds the tempo steady. “When I bought my [Roland] JX3P i started making ’80s soundtrack-style tracks,” the producer explains of the song, “This is the only one I still like.”

Set to appear on an upcoming remix 12″, a full stream of John Talabot‘s rework for Bicep‘s “Satisfy” has surfaced, along with a free download of the Barcelona artist’s “AltMix” of the track. Deemed his “RainMix,” the forthcoming production sees Talabot stretch “Satisfy” to an unhurried nine minutes, methodically piling echoed melodic phrases atop a bubbling synth sequence and gasps of airy chords.

Streaming in full below, Talabot’s “RainMix” will be joined by another rework from London producer Brassica when the Satisfy Remixes 12″ drops on August 26 via Feel My Bicep. Before then, Talabot’s darker and more driving “AltMix” of the track can currently be download for free via Feel My Bicep’s Bandcamp.

Over the years, American producer Kevin McHugh has operated under dual (and partially anonymous) aliases. As Ambivalent, his output has largely seen release via Richie Hawtin’s Minus label, while his hardware-built, acid-leaning productions as LA-4A have been allied with Delft, where he serves as label head. As Resident Advisor reports, however, the now Berlin-based producer is poised to bring these discursive identities together with the release of Red Ones, his debut EP for Delft as Ambivalent. He’s also announced the launch of his own label, Valence, which he’ll inaugurate with an EP of “warehouse-style techno” in the near future. (Belgian producer GoldFFinch has been tapped for its second release.)

Red Ones (tracklist below) is due out via Delft on September 22, and the label’s most recent issue—featuring McHugh as LA-4A alongside West Coast producer Matrixxman—is available to stream below.

Defected has announced that it will issue an extensive anthology from Masters at Work, the pioneering house duo of “Little” Louie Vega and Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez. The forthcoming House Masters – Masters at Work distills the influential duo’s output over 25 years of collaboration, and will reportedly offer 40 original productions and remixes from its far-reaching discography. According to Gonzalez, the selection process aimed to “pick out some of the joints that got overlooked the first time around,” rather than assembling a “greatest hits” retrospective, and all included tracks can be found below, along with a video trailer. House Masters – Masters at Work lands on September 21 as a 4xCD, double LP, and digital release, but in the meantime, the NYC veterans’ 2013 XLR8R podcast, which offers a selection of soul and swinging, percussion-heavy house cuts, can be streamed and downloaded here.
