“Long Way” starts out unassuming enough—a dusty hat skips between a simple kick-and-clap pattern—but once the tune’s chords begin to creep in, it’s clear there is much more on the way. Crafted by Belgian producer Vhyce for Parisian label Overcooked’s upcoming All You Can Eat Vol. 2 compilation, the track aims straight at the dancefloor with its series of weighted chords and sweeping pads. Spanning over six minutes, “Long Way” develops in steps, gradually building the full-bodied track’s potency. Featured here, Vhyce’s contribution to All You Can Eat Vol. 2 will be joined by 10 other disparate electronic productions from fellow budding artists when the comp sees its official release on August 25. Last month, the Houndstooth label announced that it would issue Call Super‘s debut album in the fall. To preempt the record’s arrival on September 15, the Berlin-based producer and recent XLR8Rpodcast contributor has shared an abstract new video for the (slightly abbreviated) 7″ version of album cut “Sulu Sekou.” Directed by Lydia Corry, the video edits together pixelated images extracted from natural and man-made environments around Las Vegas, Nevada, and can be watched in full below. Jeff Mills has revealed details for a new album, which will arrive via his own Axis label in the fall. The forthcoming Emerging Crystal Universe constitutes the eighth chapter in the seminal techno artist’s sci-fi inspired Sleeper Wakes series, following from last year’s preceding installment, The Jungle Planet. According to Resident Advisor, this latest effort finds Mills—as the “last surviving human”—exploring a “Parallel Universe.”

The next release from Anthony Naples’ Proibito label will come in the form of a four-track 12″ featuring new productions from a cast of budding talents. Alongside efforts from Alex Falk, Jackson Lee, and Independence Ave. Orchestra, PRB-007 will include “Mongoos,” a sparse, static-laden production from Hank Jackson, whose Palee Hit EP appeared on the Proibito label last year.

Ghetto/booty house innovator DJ Funk is set to celebrate two decades of producing and DJing with a three-disc 20th Anniversary Greatest Hits collection. Set to appear via Dance Mania—the legendary Chicago label through which DJ Funk originally released many of his seminal tracks—the collection will include over 40 of the artist’s “best-selling hits,” including “House the Groove,” “Booty Bounce,” and “Every Freakin’ Night.” In addition, the collection’s third disc will host a “Gold Megamix” from DJ Funk, which we imagine will find the man briskly making his way through a large helping of his original productions.
The DJ Funk Gold – 20th Anniversary Greatest Hits collection is set to arrive on September 5; in the meantime, it’s artwork and full tracklist have been included below. Furthermore, DJ Funk also plans to embark on a series of tours in support of the release, hitting Europe and the UK in October before making his way around the US from November all the way to March 2015. Though dates are still forthcoming for those tours, DJ Funk has put together a promo video for the upcoming events, which is also included below.

After delivering a rework of its own for our Downloads section back in June, NYC outfit Midnight Magic (pictured above) are now on the receiving end of this remix treatment from London producer Bell Towers. Included as part of the recent Midnight Creepers Remixes 12″ (which features additional refixes from Session Victim, Hugh Mane, and Suzanne Kraft & Secret Circuit, working together as Blase), Bell Towers’ take on “Calling Out” strips the song down to more efficient form, placing spurts of the original track’s vocals between cyclical synth sequences that are restlessly tweaked across the course of the seven-minute production. The Midnight Creepers Remixes 12″ is out now via Permanent Vacation.
NYC label RVNG has announced it will issue the second full-length effort from “minimal ensemble” Bing & Ruth. Entitled Tomorrow Was the Golden Age, the upcoming LP will find the seven-piece outfit performing nine pieces written and conducted by pianist David Moore. The resulting album is described as a “a halcyonic journey to a never-ending place, where music waxes, wanes and drifts imperceptibly from silence to grand, glowing sound.”

Liz Harris (a.k.a. Grouper) will re-emerge with a new album in October. Set to see a release via Kranky, the forthcoming Ruins LP was “made in Aljezur, Portugal in 2011… except the last song, which I did at mother’s house in 2004,” Harris explains in a press release. Speaking of her time in Portugal, Harris says “It was the first time I?d sat still for a few years, [and I] processed a lot of political anger and emotional garbage.” Furthermore, Harris notes that the album was largely inspired by her frequent, miles-long hikes to the beach, explaining that “The album is a document. A nod to that daily walk. Failed structures. Living in the remains of love. I left the songs the way they came.”
Ruins—which is said to have been recorded using “a portable 4-track, Sony stereo mic, and an upright piano”—will see its official release on October 31. In the meantime, the artwork and full tracklist for Grouper’s upcoming album have been included below.

A barrage of rattling percussion and sharply cut samples line “Children with Feet of Giants (Mass),” the lead single from London producer Warsnare‘s upcoming Endgame mini-LP for Seclusiasis. Filling every inch of his production with sonic details, the track is a rush of audio, one which folds gasps of candy-coated R&B, red-lined bass stabs, and an innumerable number of disparate rhythmic pulses into its five-plus-minute run. “Children with Feet of Giants (Mass)” and a handful Warsnare’s other sneaky bass permutations will be available in vinyl and digital format when his Endgame mini-LP drop in mid-September.
Last week, Night Slugs co-founder Bok Bok and Rush Hour mainstay Tom Trago shared news that they would be teaming up on a mini-album due out next month. Now, album cut “Need This (Radio Mix)” has been made available to stream before Night Voyage Tool Kit II lands on September 9. In keeping with the style of the pair’s previous releases, the track takes the form of a stripped-back, acid-inspired DJ tool, and can be heard in full below.
The full Night Voyage Tool Kit II, which is described as “highly textured house music inspired by the classics,” will see release via Night Voyage, a “pop-up label” established as a platform for the duo’s joint productions.
