Throughout the week, a whole lot of material gets posted here on XLR8R. 1. We kicked off the week with elusive Canadian producer Venetian Snares (pictured above), who took on our 20 Questions series and wound up talking about cats, coffee, and the power of love.

2. Of all the tunes that appeared in our Downloads section this week, the most popular was a remix of La Roux’s “Uptight Downtown” by Brooklyn disco outfit Midnight Magic.

3. Known record fiend and Eglo Records co-founder Floating Points shared a new mix consisting of nothing but vintage Brazilian music.

4. The suddenly quite active Jamie xx surprised everyone this week with the release of a new single, “All Under One Roof Raving,” which can be streamed online.

5. The latest XLR8R podcast is a drum-filled house session put together by veteran Baltimore producer Karizma.

6. Leftfield pop darling Grimes gave away a new “summer jam” called “Go,” a dubsteppy track that was originally written for (and was later rejected by) Rihanna.

7. London drum & bass explorer Fracture has a new EP on the way for Exit, and this week saw him sharing a stream of its lead track.

8. Ahead of the duo’s upcoming debut LP, DJ Dodger Stadium (a.k.a. Samo Sound Boy and Jerome LOL) invited us over for a new edition of In the Studio.

9. Anonymous UK producer TÂCHES offered up a darkly focused dancefloor remix of Kitsune affiliate Citizens! in our Downloads section.

10. Warp announced the impending release of Green Language, the sophomore LP from Glasgow producer Rustie, and also shared a stream of album cut “Raptor.”

NYC producer and founder of the fledgling Sci-Fi & Fantasy label, Lamin Fofana will return to his own imprint with the three-track First Symphony EP in August. Said to have been “composed during long winter nights in a room with unstable temperatures using mostly digital-based techniques and processes,” the forthcoming EP will consist of an opening ambient exploration followed by two efficient techno excursions, which come lined with the sort of sound design fitting for the head of a label deemed “Sci-Fi & Fantasy.”

Fofana’s First Symphony EP is slated to drop on August 5. In the meantime, the record’s artwork (based on a photograph by Dimitris Kapetanakis) and tracklist have been included below along with a video for the its opening effort, “First Exit (Excerpt).”

Following the release of his recent Kindlinn EP for Kompakt (a record which can be streamed in full here), former Bubblin’ Up artist Dauwd is now the subject of a brief new documentary. Produced by Inverted Audio, the mini-doc follows the burgeoning producer around London as he discusses how he ended up moving to the city, his creative process, and what about his recent outing on Kompakt has stuck with him. A new mix from veteran Dutch DJ/producer Tom Trago has surfaced. The 70-minute set appears as part of i-D Online‘s ongoing mix series, and finds Trago—who showed us around his production space in an extensive In the Studio article late last year—beginning with some classic disco vibes before transitioning into more contemporary slices of house and techno. Though the set comes with no tracklist, a few recognizable numbers can be heard, including Doc Daneeka’s “Walk On In,” a piano-heavy production which came in as one of our top tracks of 2013. Trago’s new mix for i-D can be streamed in full below.

Pioneering UK garage and dubstep duo Horsepower Productions and rising, London-based producer Beneath are set to appear on a surprise split single, due out via Berceuse Heroique on Monday. The news follows Beneath’s recent release on Bill Kouligas’ experimental PAN platform, Vobes, and an anticipated solo record for Berceuse Heroique due out after the summer. On the a-side is a reissue of Horsepower Productions’ remix of the 2001 single “Return to the E Rmx” by Re-Animator, originally released on Vertical Drop Recordings, with Beneath’s “WIP” on the flip. Both contributions to the forthcoming Horsepower Productions VS Beneath 12″ can be heard below, before its official limited-run release next week via Honest Jon’s.
