Throughout the week, a whole lot of material gets posted here on XLR8R. In the interest of making it easier for everyone to catch up, every Friday we present The Lowdown, a weekly wrap-up of the top 10 tidbits from our site.

1. Last week, XLR8R headed to Montreal to check out MUTEK’s collaborative EM15 festival. Our subsequent review catalogued our thoughts on the event, including our opinions on Nicolas Jaar, Ricardo Villalobos, and the unexpected naps we took along the way.

2. Machinedrum (pictured above) surprised his fans this week by giving away “Hazel Ash,” an unreleased b-side from the Vapor City sessions, as a free download.

3. As we do every month, we kicked off June by tabulating and publishing a list of the most popular downloads from the site during the previous 30 days.

4. This week’s XLR8R podcast was assembled by fast-rising San Francisco house and techno producer Matrixxman.

5. Seemingly everyone was delighted by the announcement that Caribou would be delivering a new LP this fall. The news was accompanied by a stream of a new track.

6. Of all the tunes to appear in our Downloads section this week, the most popular was a remix of Brazilian outfit Sonzeira by UK house veteran Mark E.

7. Maya Jane Coles always tends to get a lot of attention, and this week was no different, as a stream of Matthew Herbert’s remix of Coles’ “Senseless” got readers excited.

8. XLR8R also traveled to Barcelona last week for the annual Primavera Sound festival, and our review detailed our key takeaways from the busy weekend.

9. London’s Hyperdub label revealed the details of its second 10th-anniversary compilation, which will focus on the imprint’s R&B inclination.

10. A new documentary premiered this week featuring DJ Spinn and the late DJ Rashad during a March trip to Mexico.

Temples—one of a number of aliases utilized by Portland producer Avalon Kalin—will issue a new four-track EP via 100% Silk next week. Entitled Earrings II, Temples’ upcoming effort is said to “ebb between passages of pressure and release, euphoric but unstable, dusted with pyramid-chamber slap back and live dubbing acrobatics.” To serve as a preview, the label has sent along a full stream of the record’s title track, a particularly lush production which rides a gurgling bassline and the steady pulse of a reverb-touched drum machine. “Earrings II” can be streamed in full below before the Northwest producer’s full EP for 100% Silk can be picked up on June 10.

Having just released the final installment in his instrumental Transitions12″ series earlier this week, SBTRKT has shared a stream of “Temporary View,” a new production featuring frequent collaborator Sampha. The vocal-led cut comes with little information, though one suspects the track is a result of the sessions which will eventually yield SBTRKT’s sophomore LP, which is expected to drop later this year. While we still await official details of the producer’s next full-length album, SBTRKT’s and Sampha’s “Temporary View” can be streamed in full below.

Following the recent release of his Return EP for Numbers, London producer/DJ Deadboy has shared a genre-crossing new mix. Touching on hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, UKG, and a number of variants across the house/bass spectrum, Deadboy’s mix is a truly eclectic offering. Appearing via the Pack London event crew, the hour-long mix turns a lot of corners, with Deadboy jumping from around 100 BPM to 160 BPM in the course of just over 60 minutes.

Amsterdam-based institution Delsin has shared news of a forthcoming EP from German producer Erdbeerschnitzel. Entitled The Ample Waters, the forthcoming effort finds the veteran artist following up his 2013 effort for the label, and in as opulent form as ever, with four “truly feel-good jams that have come just in time for some serious summer action.”

Dependable UK producer xxxy is set to return to the Rinse label with a new melody-soaked 12″ next week. Having shared a stream of the record’s a-side cut last month, the flip side production from xxxy’s forthcoming single can now be streamed in full. Spanning over six minutes, “No More” finds xxxy sticking with what has worked so well for him over the past few years, crafting a crisp, skipping house track that comes gushing with neon-striped synths, glowing arpeggios, and tasteful vocal chops.

The “Never Enough” 12″ will see its official release on June 9; in the meantime, xxxy’s “No More” can be streamed in full below.

Dutch producer/DJ Presk is an alumnus of Amsterdam’s bass-heavy scene, but these days largely deals in techno, house, and hybrid grooves with lashings of sub-bass. Following his recent Saluki 12″ for Doc Daneeka’s Ten Thousand Yen, this new issue is reportedly all about exploring relationships with linear structures: “Chaos from order. Crooked lines. Wicked stabs.” The four-track EP constitutes the third release for Trouw resident Nuno dos Santos’ Something Happening Somewhere label (a.k.a. SoHaSo), with the elusive Single Point Edge remixing the closing cut, and artwork by Children of the Light founder Christopher Gabriel.

Babou sees vinyl release on July 7, and is out digitally two weeks following.
