Parisian label Sound Pellegrino has shared a stream of Rabit‘s merciless ”Thug Rotorvator” from its forthcoming compilation, SND.PE VOL.03: Raw Club Material. Curated by label heads Teki Latex and Orgasmic, the release comes hot on the heels of the recent SND.PE Vol. 02: Crossover Series, and will also feature Physical Therapy and Renaissance Man teaming up as Low Concept, Chicago producer Ratchett Traxxx, and Rushmore.

Endlessly creative DJ/producer and head of the Cómeme label (whose latest release can be streamed in full here) Matias Aguayo has delivered a new mix. Appearing as the latest offering in Dummy‘s ongoing podcast series, Aguayo’s 50-plus-minute set covers the more tropical and fun-loving ends of house, with a number of synth-heavy dance music odds and ends thrown in for good measure.

The new mix comes before Aguayo—a former member of Kompakt’s storied Closer Musik outfit—is set to take to the decks this weekend at London’s XOYO club as part of The Two Bears‘ ongoing residency there. In the meantime, the singular Aguayo’s Dummy Mix can be streamed and downloaded in full below.

After a decade’s hiatus, Drew Daniel (best known as one half of experimental electronic duo Matmos), has resurrected his solo moniker The Soft Pink Truth in a new album for Thrill Jockey. Why Do The Heathen Rage? is a collection of black metal tracks recalibrated for the dancefloor, and ahead of its release, the bonus Burzum cover ”Rundgang (Fuck Varg’s Racist, Anti-Semitic Bullshit Politics Forever!)” is available to stream and download for free.

The 25-minute rework first premiered via Pitchfork, and according to the accompanying interview, functions in part as a critique of convicted murderer and racist Varg Vikernes (a.k.a. Burzum). “I felt like if you’re going to do black metal covers and your point is a queer critique of the shitty ideological disaster area that is black metal, then it would be cowardly to not address the Burzum question,” Daniel said. “Just as blasphemy both affirms and assaults the sacred powers it invokes and inverts, so too this record celebrates black metal and offers queer critique, mockery, and profanation of its ideological morass in equal measure.”

Why Do The Heathen Rage? is out in full on June 16.

The Italian-born, Berlin-based duo of Lucretio and Marieu (a.k.a. The Analogue Cops) have returned to Hypercolour’s Hype LTD imprint this week with a new four-track effort. Finding each member taking a side to themselves, the pair’s Hot Brass Dance EP can now be heard in full.

On Hot Brass Dance‘s a-side, Lucretio gently manipulates and filters a pair of soul-burnt samples over thumping processions of red-lined drum-machine rhythms, resulting in two low-swung and gritty house affairs. Leading the flip side, Marieu’s “Manipulation” follows along the same formula, again reshaping a dusty sample into a hypnotic series of loops, which are joined by pieces of machine-made percussion. Closing out the affair with “Fall In,” Marieu ditches the sample palette in exchange for a generous helping of restless acid synths and and an even more mechanical procession of crunchy drum-machine patterns. Following last year’s In Plain Clothes EP and the pair’s 2013 debut LP, Heavy Hands, The Analogue Cops’ Hot Brass Dance EP can be streamed in full below.

Ahead of the release of his third long player, The Air Between Worlds, Martyn has shared a stream of album cut ”Love of Pleasure,” featuring former Hype Williams singer Inga Copeland (a.k.a. copeland). The track trails copeland’s languid, slightly gritty vocals over layered piano chords and off-kilter synths. Martyn’s full 10-track effort comes as a follow-up to 2011’s notable Ghost People LP for Brainfeeder, and finds the Dutch producer and 3024 label head exploring ”entirely new sonic territory.” The album reportedly emerged out of free play with analog equipment, and will also feature a collaboration with UK producer Four Tet.

Over the past few years, veteran DJ and party starter Heidi has been enlisting some of her favorite artists, including the likes of Maya Jane Coles and Jimmy Edgar, to release music via her own Heidi Presents Jackathon Jams label. Next month, the imprint’s latest entry will arrive with NYC DJ/producer Kim Ann Foxman at the helm. The former Hercules and Love Affair member and XLR8R podcast contributor has assembled a six-track effort, which includes original songs “Be Mine” and “Let Me Be the One.” Five separate versions of the latter track have made the cut, including remixes from Soul Clap and Catz N Dogz. The record is scheduled for release on June 23, and clips of all six tunes can be heard in the player below.

There’s a long history of tension between London police and the city’s underground music scenes, but perhaps no corner of the UK music world has encountered more problems than grime. Following the recent cancellation of a Just Jam event back in February, the folks at Noisey decided to dig deeper into the situation. Today, the web portal has debuted a new mini-documentary exploring the issue, the aptly titled The Police vs. Grime Music. Hosted by JME of Boy Better Know, the 20-minute film features interviews with a variety of figures, including lawyers, journalists, promoters, and grime artists like Jammer, Meridian Dan, and Big Narstie. It also examines the problems stemming from London’s Form 696, the city’s “risk-assessment procedure” that often results in grime events being cancelled.
