Serving as half of the burgeoning Lakker outfit—whose impressive Containing a Thousand EP landed via R&S in March—Dublin-based producer Ian McDonnell will drop his debut solo LP as Eomac next week via Berlin label Killekill. Before its upcoming release, the 11 contorted electronic hybrids which make up McDonnell’s Spectre LP are streaming in full exclusively via XLR8R.

In truth, Spectre is hard to pin down in terms of genre. The opening “SU Riddim” presents a twisted interpretation of UKG, “Shell of Dark” pins fragile melodies and mechanical techno rhythms beneath heavy sheets of noise, and both “Forest” and “Mika Riddim” appear startlingly icy despite boasting an array of burnt textures. McDonnell’s confidence and craftsmanship are what hold the long-player together—even when he’s swimming in uncharted territory the Irish producer does not sound anywhere near out of his depth. Set to drop in vinyl form on May 12 (and in digital form the following week), Emoac’s Spectre LP can be heard in its entirety below.

3. Veteran producers Martyn and Four Tet have a collaborative track, “Glassbeadgames,” on the former’s forthcoming new LP, but ahead of its release, they elected to share a stream of an alternate version of the song via SoundCloud.

4. Red Bull Music Academy launched a humorous new web portal, Eternal Bliss™. The tongue-in-cheek site features new sounds from James Pants, Nightwave, Anenon, Suzanne Kraft, Lucrecia Dalt, and others, and is billed as “the world’s first guided meditation that puts you in charge.”

5. In the aftermath of DJ Rashad’s death, Bok Bok and P.O.L. Style used the Night Slugs show on Rinse FM as a forum for an impromptu tribute to the fallen artist.

6. The most popular tune in our Downloads section this week was put together by Submerse, whose remix of Hidden Orchestra’s “Spoken” utilizes upbeat claps and introduces a mellow, bouncing bass to the original’s fluid and undulating rhythms.

7. UK producer Jon Hopkins shared a new version of Immunity LP cut “We Disappear” and announced an upcoming North American tour.

8. Fatima’s debut LP will soon arrive via Ego Records, and this week, she posted a stream of album cut “Do Better,” a song produced by label co-founder Floating Points.

9. Another popular free download came from the Donky Pitch camp, which offered up the Tokyo Hands remix of VesperTown’s “Royal Flash.” The buoyantly jaunting rework will appear on VesperTown’s upcoming EP.

10. Techno legend Robert Hood announced the impending release of a new M-Plant 12″ with two re-worked Floorplan tracks.

Operating simply under the name H.S., the next effort from rising Stateside talent—and former XLR8Rpodcast contributor—Huerco S. (pictured above) will land on Anthony Naples’ Proibito label in the coming weeks. Titled A Verdigris Reader, the 12″ will feature four new, untitled productions from Huerco S., all of which appear to find the NYC transplant continuing to delve into soupy electronic textures and a range of hardware rhythms.

Though no exact release date has been shared for A Verdigris Reader, we’ve been told to expect the record to drop in “the next few weeks.” In the meantime, a preview clip of the forthcoming 12″ can be streamed below.

Live on Bolier Room last night, Kode9, Ikonika, Oneman, and Addison Groove took to the decks to pay tribute to juke and footwork pioneer DJ Rashad, whose untimely passing over the weekend continues to rattle the electronic music community. Now, each set from last night’s broadcast is available to watch and hear in full. With each DJ’s session spanning around 40 minutes, the evening covered a wide range of Rashad’s productions while also including some sentimental sound bites along the way.

Baths (a.k.a. Will Wiesenfeld) has shared a stream of a second track from his forthcomingOcean Death EP for Anticon. Maintaining the morose pop aesthetic heard throughout last year’s Obsidian LP and “Ocean Death” (the first track revealed from Baths’ upcoming effort), “Fade White” is a somber affair, one which addresses the topic of mortality in a melancholic fashion with Wiesenfeld whispering lines such as “Come fade to white with me” throughout the piece. Anchored by a thumping bassline and led by gentle piano chords, glimmers of synths make their way into the production as well.

Baths’ Ocean Death EP is set to drop next week on May 6. Before then, “Fade White” is available to stream in its entirety below.

A veteran of the XLR8Rpodcast series, Swiss DJ/producer Deetron has been selected to mix the 76th edition of Fabric‘s esteemed mix CD series. Featuring cuts from Redshape, Tom Trago, Caribou, Four Tet, and Nils Frahm, among others, the mix is said to serve as “a captivating ride through Deetron’s most personal selections, with disparate sounds, scenes, and styles all connected up with perfect sequencing and tight mixing.” Deetron himself further explains that he “basically followed the pleasure principle when approaching the mix… [picking] my favorite pieces of dance music regardless of age or sub-genre.”

Deetron’s Fabric 76 mix album is set to land on June 16. In the meantime, the upcoming effort’s artwork and tracklist have been included below.

Drew Lustman) has shared a full stream of the record’s lead cut, “Huff & Puff Bruk.” The jazz-influenced production keeps things simple, using a shuffling percussive pattern, smooth brass tones, and airy pads—all of which come assembled into an efficient, low-swung package.
