Theo Parrish has a new album on the way via his own Sound Signature label, and though the Detroit producer has yet to share much in the way of details, he has released a music video for LP cut “Footwork.” The song itself is a soulful, subtly funky creation, and its video, which can be viewed in the player below, features a number of house dancers gracefully doing their thing amongst the grit and urban decay of the Motor City. We’ll continue to seek out more information about Parrish’s upcoming full-length in the weeks ahead, but one piece of data can be gleaned from the “Footwork” clip—the new album appears to be titled American Intelligence.

Set to embark on a special B2B tour with Oneman later this summer, accomplished DJ and Numbers co-head Jackmaster has announced plans for an upcoming US solo tour which will get underway later this month. Keeping Jackmaster Stateside for the better part of May, the eight-date expedition will find the UK selector touching down on both coasts, heading up parties in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Boston during his run. Gene Hunt has been active in the Windy City’s house music scene since the ’80s, but the veteran producer apparently isn’t afraid to work with younger generations. Today, Hunt released a new 12″ on L.A. Club Resource, the imprint headed up by Delroy Edwards. There’s no word about how this relationship was actually forged, but the vinyl-only outing does feature two tracks, “Pandemonium” and “Jackzone,” that were reportedly made in the late ’80s or early ’90s in Chicago. The latter tune is a raw, drum-machine-heavy club track, and it’s streaming in the player below, which also features a preview of the record’s Chicago Bulls-inspired artwork.

Last year marked the 10th anniversary of Seattle’s Decibel Festival, an annual gathering that has fashioned itself into one of North America’s most essential electronic events. With the 11th edition of the five-day festival still months away, the first wave of performers for this year’s undertaking have been announced. Among the notable acts slated for Decibel 2014 are Hyperdub boss Kode 9 (pictured above), prolific UK pair Simian Mobile Disco, and Modern Love stalwart Andy Stott (who is also joined on the list by Demdike Stare). In addition, FaltyDL, Richie Hawtin, Com Truise, MK, Baths, John Roberts, and Lindstrom have also been revealed to be set to perform at the upcoming festival.

Taking place from September 24 to the 28 in Seattle, the first wave of performers announced for Decibel 2014 can be seen on the flier below, while our full review of last year’s gathering can be read here.

London’s Night Slugs camp has been busy today, as it not only announced a major expansion of its Club Constructions series, but also elected to share a stream of a new tune from label co-founder Bok Bok.

First launched in 2012, Night Slugs’ Club Constructions series has focused on raw, stripped-down productions that are squarely focused on the dancefloor. To date, six editions have released, including offerings from L-Vis 1990, Jam City, Lil Silva, and Helix. (The series was also responsible for Baltimore club anthem “Bring in the Catz,” which we named as one of the Best Tracks of 2012.) To this point, the series has been, in the label’s own words, “something of a closed circle,” but now, the Night Slugs braintrust has elected to open things up with Club Constructions Community.

Making it clear that this is “not a contest or a PR stunt,” Night Slugs claims that “club music is our foundation” and that the imprint simply wants to “start a structured dialog, encourage and support new talent, connect with like-minded producers, and cultivate a platform for this emerging sound.” To assist interested producers in the effort, the label has posted the Club Constructions “manifesto,” a series of aesthetic guidelines that is “not be taken as dogma.” Rather, “it’s more a set of directions towards a certain feel and a framework for curating ideas.” After digesting this information and making some potential contributions—artists are advised to take their time—producers can submit tunes via the Club Constructions Community website.

In other Night Slugs happenings, Bok Bok has followed the recent announcement of his forthcoming new EP, Your Charizmatic Self, by unveiling a stream of another one of its tracks. He shared EP cut “Howard” last week, and now, “Da Foxtrot” can be heard over at FADER. Your Charizmatic Self will be released on May 26 via Night Slugs.
