London producer Josh Quirke (who operates simply under his surname as Quirke) will join the Young Turks roster later this month with his debut EP, Acid Beth. Set to see a digital and vinyl release on May 19, Quirke’s upcoming effort is said to take inspiration from “the rhythmic, clattering sounds of the industrial machines that soundtrack his day,” resulting in a four-track record that “could only exist in the current generation of genre-confused electronics.” Our first taste of the Acid Beth EP comes in the form of “Break a Mirrored Leg,” a frenetically pulsing tune which layers detailed percussion and sharply manipulated vocals above its hammering chords. Asiatisch, the debut LP from Brooklyn-based producer Fatima Al Qadiri, is set to drop via Hyperdub early next week (May 5, to be exact). In anticipation of the album’s fast-approaching release, a full stream of LP track “Shanghai Freeway” has surfaced. Set to appear towards the end of Al Qadiri’s debut full-length, “Shanghai Freeway” is a beatless composition which revolves around a series of steel drum hits that become gradually consumed by sweeping synths and thick layers of delay and reverb. The rising producer’s full production can be streamed below before her debut LP—which is said to present a “simulated road trip through an imagined China”—hits on Monday.

Martyn (pictured above) and Four Tet have shared a full stream of “Glassbeadgames (8 Hours at Fabric Dub),” a new version of a collaborative track set to be included on the former producer’s forthcoming LP for Ninja Tune. The resulting eight-minute production is as rich as one might expect when two producers of this caliber combine their efforts, balancing both artist’s styles well, with the familiar loose percussion and gentle thumb piano melodies of Four Tet melding together with Martyn’s penchant for fortified low-end and solid sonic constructions.

While the original version of the pair’s “Glassbeadgames” track is set to appear on Martyn’s The Air Between Words LP when it drops on June 16, this “8 Hours at Fabric Dub” version of the tune will see a release on Martyn’s forthcoming Forgiveness EP, which will also see a release via Ninja Tune on June 3. With the release of his debut LP, Under Destruction just around the corner (May 5, to be exact), and having recently shared with us some insight into the five most essential pieces of hardware in his studio, Bulgarian producer KiNK has announced plans to record a live album at Berlin’s Watergate club next week. KiNK will be joined by German producer Sierra Sam for the performance, which will find the two artists crafting their set using a rig consisting completely of hardware units.

Following its recording on Wednesday, May 7, the pair’s one-off performance will be issued as a Live at Watergate CD, with a number of accompanying 12″s also planned to coincide with the live album’s release in the weeks to come. UPDATE: We have received word from KiNK that a live album is not something that has been set in stone. Although he has confirmed an improvised live set with Sierra Sam, he wants to clarify that “I haven’t touched the set-up yet and I have no idea what it will come out of it.” An album could come out the session eventually, but it has not been officially announced and is just an “idea” that will only come to fruition “if it’s good enough.”

Recent Berlin transplant and former Bubblin’ Up artist Youandewan (a.k.a. Ewan Smith) has today announced a new, self-titled EP for Will Saul’s Aus imprint. The four-track effort boasts a remix from Detroit veteran Andres alongside a trio of new productions from the budding UK talent. The new EP is said to find Youandewan “showing off more of his soulful side, while keeping things unpredictable, exciting, and moving ever-forward.” The Youandewan EP will be available on June 16 in digital and vinyl formats; the record’s artwork has been included above and its complete tracklist can be found below.

German techno savant and Kompakt co-founder Wolfgang Voigt has announced two new releases, which are timed to coincide with his upcoming involvement with an art exhibition—titled Doofe Musik, Lieder zum Träumen, Betäuben und Vergessen (English translation: Dumb music, songs for dreaming, numbing and forgetting)—at Berlin’s Haus Der Kulturen next month.

Rückverzauberung 9, the first of the two works, is comprised of ambient music recorded as a sound installation for the exhibition, and it will be released by Kompakt’s Profan sub-label as a limited run of 500 CDs. Its press release describes it as “programmatic boredom as rhetorical device of befuddled bliss.” The second work, Polkatrax, released on Voigt’s new label of the same name, strikes a lighter and more playful tone, with its press release describing it as an exploration of polka’s distinct 2/4 rhythm: “For Voigt, polka’s oom-pah-pah beat corresponds with the bang-bang of the straight techno bass drum in a completely non-ironic way.” Polkatrax is slated for a May 5 release, with Rückverzauberung 9 following on July 7. After initially anouncing news of his forthcoming Reality Testing LP for R&S back in March (which was then followed up by the album’s full details a week later), Lone has now shared a full stream of another new track from his upcoming LP. Titled “Aurora Northern Quarter,” the patient new production further pronounces the producer’s stated aims to create “an album that has both hip-hop and house beats,” with the four-minute tune incorporating elements from both sonic worlds in its synth-streaked, slow-shuffling run.

Reality Testing is set to see its official release on June 16 via R&S, but before then “Aurora Northern Quarter” can be streamed in full below.
